It tells us the history of Grace Darling

and the rescue of a shipwreck.

In 6th September of 1838, a ship called Forfarshire started a navigation to Dundee, Scotland. Grace
Darling was the daughter of a lighthouse keeper. All the nights, she and her father turned on the
lighthouse so the seamen could see the island and the rocks. The Forfarshire had some unforeseen.
Three of the gears were broken, so the ship could not work.

That night, the waves and the wind was very strong, it was a big storm. The ship went towards the rocks
and broke in half.

From her room, Grace saw some people in the rocks, then she knew that they needed help. With her
father, Grace made the possible to help all those peoples.

So it’s a history very famous, and the incident inspired poems, paintings, songs.

Grace died from turbeculosis. In her honour an ornate monument was raised
