Problem Statement:

With 40% Indian population using internet now, there is a visible shift in the ways of
everyday news-reading habits. Reading news is an inevitable part of most people’s live, but
the trend has changed from physical form i.e. newspapers to digital versions such as news
applications and websites. With 97% of internet users using internet on phone, apps and mail
alerts are now supposedly the preferred ways of news-reading.
We are, through this study, trying to understand the trend and verify that the assumption of an
affinity to using electronic ways is observed, especially in youngsters who are relatively well-
versed with technology

Proposed methodology:
For collection of samples, simple random sampling will be used. A simple random sample of
size (n) greater than 30 will be chosen where each possible sample will have the same chance
of being chosen. Population Is the student community of IRMA. The frame lists all the
members of the population which are students of PRM 39, PRM 40, PRMX1 and FPRM
programs.
Hypothesis testing:
The null hypothesis (Ho) is that greater than 50% students of IRMA use print media as a
primary source of reading.
The alternate hypothesis (H1) is that greater than 50% students of IRMA use electronic
media(internet) as a primary source of reading.
Calculation of margin of error and confidence interval will be done in the course of the study
based on the responses and the value of statistic. Data collection will be done through surveys
from the Simple random sample population. The SRS will be generated from the list of
students of IRMA in MS Excel using rand () function.
