Define the following:
1. Reflection of sound - Echo is a one-word description of sound
reflection. The reflecting back of a wave of sound from the surface of a
solid or liquid is known as reflection of sound. The laws of reflection
govern sound reflection, which are identical to the laws that govern light
reflection. Sound waves, on the other hand, have a longer wavelength
relative to light waves.
2. Absorption of sound - Sound absorption occurs when sound waves
collide with absorbent materials such as ceilings, walls, floors, and other
artifacts, causing the sound to be absorbed rather than reflected back into
the room. In most cases, sound absorption is applied to floors, walls,
ceilings, partition surfaces, and items such as chairs and bookshelves.
3. Reverberation of sound - The phenomenon of sound persistence after
it has been stopped as a result of numerous reflections from surfaces such
as furniture, people, air, and other objects inside a closed surface is
known as reverberation. These reflections accumulate with each reflection
and eventually fade away as they are absorbed by the surfaces of the
objects in the enclosed room.
4. Echo - A sound or series of sounds generated by sound waves
reflecting off a surface and returning to the listener. It's the act of
repeating or imitating a tone. Sound waves can reflect when they strike a
hard surface, causing the sound to bounce and repeat.
5. Creep - Unwelcome noise from outside the apartment that has crept
inside is referred to as sound creep. It doesn't matter how much you enjoy
big-band music, the Packers, or a good belly laugh: having to listen to
their sounds in your apartment if you didn't ask for them can be irritating.
6. Dffusion of sounds - The scattering of sound waves, also known as
sound diffusion, reduces the sense of localization in audio.
