Post Office Box 2749 Charleston, West Virginia 25330 Dear Mayor and Council Members: thank you for your letter, dated May ‘Avenue in Kanawha City (Kanawha County). 6, 2021, concerning the state of disrepair of MaeCorkle The Division of Highways is currently developing project that extends along MacCorkle ‘Avenue from 40" Street to 33° Street that encompasses reconstructing the pavement, improving intersection operations, and upgrading pedestrian sidewalks and ramps to current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. These ramp upgrades are part of the Division of Highways ADA Transition Plan with the Federal Highway Administration, a comprehensive plan to make every sidewalk facility ADA accessible. They are subject to multiple approvals that require time throughout the process. Tam pleased to report that the 40" Street to 33" Street Project has been included as one of the projects in the 2021 General Obligation Bond Sale, set to take place later this spring. We anticipate the project will be let and awarded this Fall. This project will provide multiple positive impacts within the ‘community.
