1. Due to lack of transparency and autocratic attitude of the NGOs chiefs where the
situation has been created that corruption became obvious. Some NGO activities are
inflated to the donors to bring money for addressing problems that are actually artificial.

2. Corruption prevails in many stages of government projects. The government maintains a


specific procedure to select NGOs but it is violated through corruption.

3. Many NGO high officials avoid income tax by showing that their basic salary is very less
and other facilities are quite high.

4. The greed for power, pelf, wealth and money is the root cause of corruption. Avarice,
dishonesty, nepotism and favoritism are also responsible for corruption.

5. NGOs influence to restructure the existing power relations through the empowerment of
the rural poor through a continuous process of education, awareness building and
resource mobilization to ensure them to take part in “Salish” local election etc.

Social
1. BRAC’s water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programme was initially aimed at
achieving the seventh millennium development goal of halving the number of people
without access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.

2. Three out of every four business leaders report that skilled workers are scarce, while
approximately ten million young people are currently unemployed or underemployed.
Some NGOs are working to train them and helping them to make a better future.

3. The UPG programme are the pioneers of the Graduation Approach, a globally recognized
model for its innovative and holistic solution to ultra-poverty, which actually has been
provided by BRAC.

4. Police as well as NGO mutual effort ensures security and strengthens social reintegration
of the lost women and children. It also has been a contributing factor by promoting social
interactions and mobility for rural women.

5. In Bangladesh NGO are also playing an important role to promote basic formal and non-
formal education. The larger national level NGOs in education, such as BRAC,
PROSHIKA, Dhaka Ahsania Mission, FIVDB, CMES, UCEP, and Nijarshikki have their
own primary education programs. They are providing primary education to unprivileged
children in rural areas.
