TERTULIA SUMMARY

On Thursday, Mrs. Roger Edwards gave to all the English students a marvelous conference,
which was about pandemics and diseases throughout history. He started it by letting us
some vocabulary words related to the topic and explaining their importance and meaning
in context. As a result, the most relevant words for me were herd immunity and outbreak
because I have not known of them before. Furthermore, we watched some short films
about the legend, contagion, and world war, which were impressive due to scenes,
projected a similar pandemic situation we are facing right now. Another significant point
Mrs. Edwards talked about in the tertulia was the actual COVID – 19. In groups of three
people, we shared a little of information based on this new disease. Later on, we made
feedback on that, and we finished watching a lecture about bill gates’ opinion of this spread.
He mentioned the world is not prepared for a new epidemic, even though technology has
developed at a high percentage.
