REPORT ON THE SELF-STUDY CENTER OF THE UNIVERSITY

OF ALICANTE

INTRODUCTION

The aim of this report is to analyse the advantages and disadvantages of the
self-study centre at the University of Alicante. My personal experience was my
main source of information.

ADVANTAGES

Despite some people may seem to feel that going to self-study centres is a
waste of time and money, the truth is completely different: there is a wealth of
information to access, highly qualified staff, as well as a good public transport
service to go there at weekends, when it is usually under-used.

POTENTIAL PROBLEMS

The main concerns raised about the centre were the following:

1- A large amount of money is needed to maintain the facilities, especially the

computers and libraries.

2- So a fee would therefore have to be charged for entry.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Although paying an entrance fee could be a bit of a nuisance, the great

benefits of the self-study centre outweigh any inconveniences. Therefore, I
recommend going ahead with the project.
