MICHAEL AND DEBRA RANDALL

19 SHE OAK BOULEVARDE, BARGARA 4670

Dear Michael and Debbie,

I am writing on behalf of the 4 students at Bundaberg State School to invite you to attend our
annual ‘Build a Shelter’ STEM event commencing on 21 st June 2021.

Students participating in the STEM event will be required to design and build a shelter that is
suitable for an animal of their choice using their knowledge and understanding undertaken in
the Design and Technology unit explored this term. Students will participate in small groups
to build their animal shelter using materials provided such as wood, cardboard, plastic and
paper. The challenge posed to the students is that the chosen animal will need to reside in
the shelter for at least one week.

The knowledge, experience and expertise of designing and building structures would be
valuable for students to learn and will help assist students in obtaining a real-world
connection with the task.

The event will run for one hour on 21st June 2021 from 9am to 10am and we would be
grateful if you could do a 5-minute introduction on building structures and materials before
students commence their design and building of animal shelters. We would appreciate if you
could also be present when students are designing and building their shelters for
opportunities to ask questions and gain feedback.

Please RSVP by 7th June 2021. Please call 0479 194 628 if you have any questions or
require further details.

Sincerely,

Hayley Ybema
