ONCE UPON A TIME…training was face to face for all. Everyone was super
comfortable in the way they were learning and working.
BUT THEN SOMETHING CHANGED in the past year it has accelerated the
Digital Transformation in all Sectors namely; Education, Healthcare, Real Estate,
Financial Services, Manufacturing and Retail.
Yes you guessed right it was COVID19, it forced people to embrace digital
technology whether they want or not.
We are living in unprecented times and the current Covid-19 Pandemic COVID-
19 has sped up digital transformation for all sectors. Today, the Future of Work is
being shaped by technologies and new innovation emerging in education which
is changing the landscape of working and learning.
The choice is if you embrace technology you will adapt and move forward. If you
decide not to embrace technology unfortunately there is no growth and you will
not move forward in life and you will be left behind.
Our government has been talking about IR4.0 and people to get ready even
before the pandemic.
Today technology has made people leapfrog 5 years forward whether they like it
or not. Technology has disrupted the way we work, play, learn and live.
During the pandemic technology is the one that saved everyone whether it was
being able to work from home, children schooling online or ordering groceries to
ordering food to sustain oneself. We could get food delivered to us In the safety
of our home, all because technology enabled that.
One thing that made it a smooth transition is the fact the Malaysians are quite
tech savvy when it comes to consuming media. When we say consuming media
is like being activee on social media, reading blogs, and shopping! Thanks to Air
Asia everyone even learnt to purchase air-ticket online because of the great price
incentive Air Asia gave the people if they bought the tickets online.
With COVID-19 pandemic we all know that globally many businesses shut down,
many millions of people lost their jobs and many millions of people also had a big
pay cut.
How do we cope with this situation to help people become more sustainable and
move forward in their life?
Post Covid-19 companies are now hiring people on a contract basis and also
some are using free-lancers. This is the beginning of the growth of the GIG
Economy.
What is the GIG Economy you may ask ? In simple terms it means it consists of
companies who employ contract workers for a temporary period or project-based
jobs, instead of hiring them for permanent positions.
The new normal everything is about digital skills and soft-skills. Do we have the
key skills today's public or private sector employers are looking ?
For the first time people accept that Digital Learning is a great way to access
learning and training. This is the only platform that will help one to access
learning 24/7 and they can learn at their own pace.
E-Learning is a new beginning it gives hope to many people who in the past who
did not have an opportunity to learn to day and they can learn from anywhere,
anytime. It also gives the person who wants to grow in their career to pick up
skills to enhance their CV. Last but not least it allows people to pick up new skills
to start a business or offer a service on a freelance basis right from their home
and their client can be anywhere in the world.
Today your future is in your hands. What you do today will determine your
tomorrows. The most important thing is making sure we make learning a habit.
Even if you learn 10 minutes a day you will be better than what you were the
previous day.
