Safe Browsing Analyst

Minimum qualifications:

 Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics,


Economics, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
 2 years of experience in data analysis, programming, and scripting.
 Experience querying and analyzing datasets/data, collecting insights, metrics,
and trends.

Preferred qualifications:

 Experience in abuse and fraud detection, web security research, and/or risk
management.

I have worked extensively in the financial risk management area

 Understanding of how the internet works economically, socially and technically.


Interest or exposure to online security and abuse topics (phishing, malware,
etc.).

My current role is in an internet-based company, working directly with a team


doing growth marketing

 Familiarity in the following areas: Programming (e.g. Python, C/C++, Java),


querying and analyzing large datasets (e.g, Pandas, Numpy, SQL, MySQL,
MapReduce, Hadoop), and/or Statistical analysis (e.g. R, Stata, SPSS, SAS).

I have been using python for the past couple of years, SQL since I have been
started working and hold courses in SQL programming

In my current role, I use the python data science stacks (pandas, scikit-learn,
numpy) extensively, and I use Spark to write ETL job and Presto for analytical
query

 Ability to identify workflow pain points, optimize/scale processes, and handle


competing stakeholder demands.
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills to clearly communicate
technical concepts with multiple cross-regional and cross-functional
stakeholders.

The mission of Safe Browsing Operations (SB Ops) is to make the world’s information
safely accessible to all. Safe Browsing systems provide protection for Google
products such as Gmail, Chrome, Search, Ads, and the Play Store and Chrome Web
Store. Our goals include increasing the coverage, accuracy, and speed of Safe
Browsing enforcement systems; understanding the global threat environment for
Malware, Unwanted Software, and Phishing; and improving the user experience by
communicating with webmasters, users, and industry leaders.

As an Analyst, you will help the team in its mission to protect Google’s users. You will
become an expert in the workings of malware, phishing, and unwanted software
campaigns, and you will help the team to detect and prevent these abuse types at
scale. You will ensure trust and reputation not only for Safe Browsing, but also for
Google as a broader brand and company.

publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities
 Conduct investigations to identify new harmful behaviors, enforce product
policies, and analyze distribution trends.
 Enhance operational workflows via process improvements and automation.
Improve tools or automation systems by influencing key stakeholders with data
and analyses.
 Help define and implement team strategies for key service areas.
 Collaborate with cross-functional groups such as Engineering, Sales, and
Legal to increase automation, update policies, fix loopholes, and provide users
with a better mobile experience.
 Understand Google's product policy, enforcement, and risk strategy in order to
identify key policy and enforcement operational successes, risks and
inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement.
