Week 4 Professional Training: Classifying and Symbolizing Spatial

Focus your Learning:


To complete this week’s Challenge, you will need to know how and when to use ArcGIS Pro to do the
following:

 Classify and symbolize qualitative and quantitative data.


 Decide how data levels of measurement impact symbology styles.
 Normalize data.

The news organization where you are working has found an ESRI Web Course– “Symbolizing Map
Layers” to help you. You will complete it for this week’s Professional Training. Use the course to learn
the tools and principles that you will need to complete the Challenge and take with you into your future
career.

After you complete the Web Course, you will earn an official ESRI certificate that you can show your
employer. You also will write a short memo to share your insights and what you learned with them.

What to Do:
Open and complete the ESRI Web Course.

Hints:
 Expand the web course to full screen so you can see all parts.
 Complete all reading, the exercise and the quiz for both parts.
 Submit a Professional Training memo and your certificate of completion in I-Learn to get credit.
 When you finish the Professional Training, you will be ready to work on the Challenge and it will
be opened.

Professional Tip: Update your resume to include completion of the ESRI “Symbolizing Map Layers Web
Course.”

What to Submit:
 Submit the Certificate of Completion from the Web Course.
 Submit a Professional Training Memo that follows the standard format.
