Ellen DeGeneres' 86th Oscars opening, and President Obama's Eulogy of Beau

Biden are both great speeches. They used repetition speech and it was easily

understood by their listeners because they like stories. They are well-paced speakers,

not talking too slow nor too fast. They talk on a normal tone. I noticed how they make a

connection to their audience. Their hand gestures, eye contact and they really

communicate with their listeners.

Through their speeches, I learned that it is important to know your audience. We

should know who our audience are to know how we will deliver the speech to them and

to know how to catch their attention. It is important to build a connection with your

audience.
