Ever since I was a kid, I have watched a dozen of K-dramas
together with my family and I enjoyed each one of them. It has introduced me to a different culture just by looking at a screen. I learned how neat, respectful and polite their practices are. This was the foundation of my dream of visiting Korea in the near future. I want to eat all the foods on their streets, their famous ice creams, and not to mention, meet Korean heartthrobs! I am not a big fan of K-pop music for I barely have the time to indulge on this aspect of their culture but I enjoy listening to their songs from time to time. I have met a lot of Koreans who have studied here in Silliman University and they are as bubbly and friendly as I have seen on TV. They are indeed polite, respectful and easy to get long with in spite of the language barrier. With these in mind, I expect my customers to be welcoming and expect the same respect I so highly give them. I think they need someone they can be comfortable with and they want a kind of relationship where they can learn without being pressured and taught by someone who is compassionate about teaching them. A kind of learning environment where the student and the teacher both enjoy and learn from each other at the same time. As an English tutor, I know that people learn differently and what works for one student might not be the best approach for another. Thus, the best way to meet their needs and wants is to create a number of different activities to appeal to various types of learning styles that is equally enjoyable and informative. I have always enjoyed helping people and I want to use my skills to empower students by teaching them and helping them succeed in an English-Speaking environment.
