WHO IS A CHRISTIAN?

A Christian is a person that believe in the mystery of the God and works according to His (God) will.

From this, I would shed a little light into what the mystery of God means and also God’s will.

Firstly, what is the Mystery of God?

The mystery of God is the testimony that Jesus Christ Is the Son of God; and also that through
him the world might be saved.

Firstly, in John 3:16-17

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through
him might be saved.

KJV

Who is this only begotten Son?

In Luke 3:21-22

21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and
praying, the heaven was opened,

22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from
heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

KJV

From this bible reference, I want to us to note that after the baptism of Jesus Christ, that is when the
Holy Spirit came in a bodily image as a dove and descended on him, then what follows immediately is a
voice of confirmation that Christ is the beloved son of God.

My beloved and brethren in the lord, I want us to know that being a Christian is not just about going to
church or bearing a Christian name. Being a Christian is a state of conviction that Christ is actually the
only saviour of the world and truly begotten by God.

Beloved is it not truly mysterious to say someone that was born by the woman named virgin Mary is
called the Son of God? Of course, it is. Because how can one believe that the one that was born by Mary
is the Son of the Most-High God and even be seen as the saviour of the world.
This remind me of the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus (John 5 vs 3-5) when Jesus said
except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God, that made Nicodemus ask by saying how
can a man be born again? when a man is old, will he enter the second time into his mother’s womb and
be born? Before Jesus said that verily verily I say unto you except a man be born of water and spirit, he
cannot enter the kingdom of God. This is another mysterious word but this is not where I am going
today.

Now, I shall continue from where I stopped by giving a little explanation in reference to Jesus Christ as
the Son of God and also the saviour of the world.

In John 1vs 1

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

KJV

From this book of John we are able to see how things were in the beginning. God and his word existed
from the very beginning. This show that before the heaven and earth exist, God was together with his
Word.

John 1:2-5

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
KJV

Here we can see that all things were made by the word that was with God from the beginning, because
when God started the creation of the heaven and earth in Gen 1vs 1

Gen 1:1-3
1 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And
the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, let there be light: and there was light.
KJV
What God did here is that he show his superiority and also reveal himself by saying that there should be
light. God speaks and light appear. This tells us that the word is dwelling inside God and also tells us that
the word is with God. That is why immediately God speaks, light appears. Just as what was written in
John 1 vs 3 to 5.

3, All things were made by him

4 In him was life and the life was the light of men.
5 and the light shineth in darkness and darkness comprehend it not.

Remember that in the beginning, everything was full of darkness until God speaks and said in genesis
1vs 3 that let there be light and there was light. Immediately light appears everything was plain and
visible, because darkness is a state of death, while light is a state of life.

Jesus also said in a place that I and my father are one. Practical example to prove him right, for instance
it is just like when a woman gives birth to a child today. The first thing the child will do to create
awareness to people about his presence is to cry loud ….. the crying simply means “MO TI DE .” as
Yoruba will say. Which means I AM HERE or I AM AROUND.

It is the crying of a newborn baby that reveal his presence to everybody, Both those that are present at
the time of his birth (nearby) and those that were not, because the news about the new born baby shall
reach those that are yet to know about his arrival or presence. This is exactly what God did in Gen 1 vs 3
by saying let there be light, God speaks and light appears. What comes out of God’s is his word. It shows
that God and his word exist together form the beginning.

Then, God utter Light to appear to save the world of then from darkness which is the state of state and
for this same reason he sent his word or utter his word again to appear as light in this word that through
him the world might be saved once again from darkness and death. And the only way for this to happen
is for the word of God to appear in a form that man can see in order to be saved.

superiority or power over them, but God look that how can he save us from darkness. He concluded that
it is only if the light which is his word that he sent in the beginning, appear in the image that we can see
and believe for us to live again. But before the appearance of the word of God in the image that man
can see God has already been speaking about this through his prophets, and anointed men of God and
the Angels.

PROPHECIES AND PROVES THAT REVEALED AND TESTIFY TO JESUS CHRIST AS THE WORD OF GOD,
AND ALSO THE SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD.

Lets see what God said through Prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 11 vs 1-5

Isa 11:1

11 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

As we all knows that it is impossible to see a branch without first seeing its tree and even more
impossible to see a tree without any root, that is why there was this first prophesy about the branch
that shall grow out of the root of Jesse, here God is talking about the child that shall be born in the
family of Jesse ,then he continue to speak more about how great he shall be when he is born In
Isa 11:2-5

2 And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of
counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: and he shall not judge after the
sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and
he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the
wicked.

5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
KJV
Verse 2 of Isaiah 11 says that the spirit of Lord shall rest upon Him. I want you to remember what
happened after the baptism of Jesus Christ in
Luke 3:21-22

21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying,
the heaven was opened,

22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from
heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
KJV.it is a testament to what Prophet Isaiah said concerning the branch that shall grow out of the root of
Jesse.
Then in Isa 7:14

14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and
shall call his name Immanuel.
KJV
,likewise in Matt 1:23-24

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,
which being interpreted is, God with us.

KJV
God with us: can be explain further, that the existence of God is here with us or God is presence here or
God dey with us,and it is written in another place that if God be for us who shall rise against us.
This is where I am going, in Matt 1:18-22

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph,
before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was
minded to put her away privily.

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream,
saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived
in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from
their sins.
KJV
Both what is written in Isaiah 11 vs 1
-5 and matt 1vs 18-22 tells us that when Immanuel which means God with us, proved and stand as a sign
and testimony that God have come in the image that we can see ,that he might save us (mankind, his
people ) from our sins and deliver us from the hand of the enemy which held us captive through sin in
the land or state of death.

in
Luke 1:30-32
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the
throne of his father David:
KJV

The reason why the angel said the lord God shall give unto Him (Jesus) the throne of His father David
and the reason for calling David the father of Jesus was because Joseph who was the husband of Mary,
which is the mother of Jesus was from the generation of Jesse, who was the Father of David. (Read
Matthew 1 vs 6 – 17 to see the generation of Jesse down to Joseph).

I want you to remember what prophet Isaiah said in Isaiah 11 vs 1 ; 4 – 5.

Isa 11 vs 1; 4-5
And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his
root.
4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the
earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall
he slay the wicked.
5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
KJV

This Prophesies about how great He shall be and the authority that He shall possess is the same as what
the Angel of the Lord said unto Mary as a comfirmation to what the prophet isaiah said earlier and also
that when He comes he will save His people from their sins or I should rather say that he will save we ,
His people from our sins.
The Angel of God Further says in Luke 1 vs 32 and 35 (32. He shall be great and shall be called the son of
the Highest…, 35, And the Angel answered and said unto Her (Mary)…; Therefore, also that Holy Thing
which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God). Here, the Angel of the Lord is referring to
Jesus Christ as the Holy Thing, that shall be called the son of the Highest, which is God.
The book of 1 John 5 vs 7 – 9

1 John 5:7-9

7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and
these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and
these three agree in one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God
which he hath testified of his Son.
KJV

The statement in vs 9 proves that all above prophesies about Jesus Christ as the Son of God and also the
saviour of the world were all truth. Jesus himself said in john 5 vs 31- 34 ( 31. If I bear witness of myself,
my witness is not true. It means that if I say I am the Son of God, and was sent by God, alone, it means
my words are nothing but lies. 32. There is another that bears witness of me; and I know that the
witness which he witnesseth of me is true. This show that all what Jesus said about himself and hath
done and think that he shall do, there is someone again that bear witness of it as true. 33. He sent unto
John and he bear witness unto the truth.

In John 1 vs 6-7

John 1:6-7

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might
believe.
KJV

If john was sent to bear witness of the light, then who is the Light? The light is the word of God that was
with God from the beginning. ( see John 1 vs 1-2 and Gen 1 vs 3). And this same word is the one that was
spoken by the Angel of God unto Mary that she will begot and the His Name shall be called Jesus or
Emmanuel for He shall save His people from their sin. It is this same Word that was made flesh and
dwelleth among us, (and we beheld his glory the glory as of the only begotten of the father) full of grace
and truth. It means that John was sent to bear witness of Christ as the Son of God.

Vs 34 but I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. John himself
testify to this that he that cometh from above is above all; He that is of the earth is earthly and speaketh
of earth; He that cometh from heaven is above all, and what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth;
and no man recieveth his testimony. This is why Jesus said, I received not testimony from man because
no man wanted to believe his word. For he knows that no man wanted to come except He was given to
him by the Father (God).
John now said in John 3 vs 33 and 34

John 3:33-35

33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by
measure unto him.

As it is written in the book of Isaiah that the spirit of God shall rest upon him

35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
KJV
Jesus himself testify to this by saying all things are delivered unto me by my father and no man knoweth
who the son is but the father; and who the father is, but the son, and to whom the son reveal him.
According to john 3 vs 34, he that has received his testimony hath set forth that God is true.

What Is the Testimony that John is talking about?

Here is the testimony that Jesus Christ is the son of God and the Saviour of the world and the truth
about God is that In due time God sent his only begotten son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin to
condemn sin in the flesh, because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But for us to
retain this Glory God sent forth his Son which is His word that was with him from the beginning to put
on the image of servant, by making himself of no reputation and was made in the likeness of men
according to Philippians 2 vs 7. That is why, when he came there was a declaration of him in Isa 9:6, “For
unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his
name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of
Peace.” just as the prophesy was foretold about his coming into this world.

What is the Purpose of God for sending his son into this world?

Ever since man has come short of the glory of God because of sin (disobedience to God commandment),
we have been living in darkness, which is the state of death. but because of God’s love to mankind (His
people, those he created in his own image). He sent fort his son to be a sacrifice for our sin at the
appropriate time according to apostle Paul in Romans 5 vs 6 “for when we were without strength Christ
died for the ungodly”. He did this because God wants us to be reconciled to Him. When God saw that
the Law or Man’s holiness cannot reconcile to him. He now sent his son at the fullness of Time Gal 4 vs
4.” But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under
the law,” because it is quite impossible for man to obtain righteousness by the law. That is why he said
in Romans 8 vs 3 Rom 8:3 “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God
sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:” in order to
redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
This is where I will conclude everything. Romans 5 vs 17 and 21
Rom 5:17-21
17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance
of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by
the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall
many be made righteous.

20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did
much more abound:

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto
eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
KJV

Why did Man Lost the Glory of God?

It is because of sin (disobedience to God’s commandment) according to romans 5 vs 17 for if by one

man’s offence… who is the man? We know that the man was Adam, and offence committed was
disobedience to God. If by Adam’s disobedience all human race was considered a sinner and because of
this man lost the glory of God and were considered dead, when God saw that the laws could not bring
man up out of the grave, he sent forth his son to be our righteousness and also, bring us (mankind) out
of the grave to take us into his marvelous light. This is why it is written that for God send not his son into
the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved.

Then whosoever that believe on him, to them power is given to become sons and daughters of
God and upon such there shall be no condemnation according to the scripture in Romans 8 vs 1 (There is
therefore now, no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after
the spirit). Walking after the spirit means believing on God’s mystery and also walking according to his
will.

We have known what God’s mystery means, that it is absolutely clear and certain that Jesus
Christ is the son of God and the savior of the world. For as it is written in Act of the Apostle 4 vs 12
Neither is there salvation in any other: For there is none other name under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved.

Now we Shall Study What God’s Will Actually Means.

And this is the commandment that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and
love one another as he gave us commandment. 1 john 3 vs 23.
Responsibilities of a Christian

God sending his Son into this world is for a purpose and the purpose is that through him the whole
generation of mankind may be save.

Since we have known the purpose of God for sending his Son into this world and we know that
one generation goes another generation comes, God has invested in us as Christians just as he invested
on those before us, and through them we have become God’s profit. Now it is our turn likewise, to make
profit for him. Jesus Knows this that is why before he left, he has already enlightened us by saying if ye
love me keep my commandment John 14 vs 15.

After saying this, then in John 15 vs 12, He gave us His commandment (John 15 vs 12 This is my
commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.) Did you know that because of Jesus’ Love
towards us is what makes him decide and accept to come into this world that he might be the
propitiation for our sin and shed light into our path in order for us to regain the lost glory and be able to
be alive and reign with him for ever in his father’s kingdom, which is the kingdom of peace where he is
now preparing a place for us and has promised us that after preparing the place he will come to receive
us unto himself, that where he is there we may be also. But before that time comes, He says to his
believers, that as the father hath sent me even so have I sent you (John 20 vs 21).

As we have known that Christ was sent to save us by shedding his light into our path, now he assigned
us also to save others by shedding the light that is in us into the path of those that are in darkness. That
is why Jesus said, ye are my disciple, what I do shall ye do , even greater things shall ye do also for this
course he did not leave us alone but instead asked the father to give us the Holy Spirit that shall teach us
all things (Read John 14 vs 16;28).

In john 14 vs 26 John 14:26

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you
all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
KJV

Because HE knows that the task is not easy to be accomplished, that is why he promised us the Holy
Ghost and assure us that we shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon us, and we shall
be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of
the earth.

Beloved here is our testimony about Christ rding to the scripture written in 1 John 1 vs 5 This then is the
message which we have heard of him and declare unto you that God is light and in him is no darkness at
all….

My dear Beloved seeing that we have a great high priest that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son
of God, Let us holdfast our profession by studying to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman
that needed not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Brethren I want you to know that being a Christian is not by confession alone it has to be with conviction
that indeed Jesus Christ is the Son of God and also the savior of the world, that came to reveal the truth
about God to us that God is light, and also reconcile us to Him (God).
