Telogram: Alpha .Telecopy: 98 42 32 Alpha itis EE -- REDUCTION GEAR ‘The gear is built up as a unit comprising: A hydraulically operated multiple disc clutch at the input shaft of the gear. A toothed gearing which reduces the propeller number of revolutions in relation to that of the engine. The gear wheels are hardened and ground, and their shafts are bedded in sturdy sliding bearings. A hydraulically actuated servomotor for adjustment of the controllable propeller blades. The hydraulic cylinder is built. into the Tower gear wheel, and the piston rod for setting the propeller blades extends through a central bore in the thrust shaft. A thrust bearing has been built on to the aft end of the gear to absorb the pro- peller thrust. A gear pump, also built on to the aft end of the gear, supplies lubricating 11 to gear wheels and bearings, and pressure oi] to the multiple disc clutch and the servomotor. Furthermore, it can be used when ordering spare parts.
