The document serves a great purpose for Filipinos today as it is one of the best sources if not the best
source as it is a primary source personally witnessed by Pigafetta. Pigafetta’s journal described the
relevance of lapu lapu’s life and the lifestyle of locals such as their way of dressing, eating, and their way
of communication. The document helps us Filipinos of this generation to understand how our ancestors
survived when the Philippines was invaded by Magellan. Pigafetta’s journal gives us a clear
understanding of what it’s like being in the midst of the Magellan expedition or the first voyage around
the world.
