A sketch is just a sketch. The design is not chiseled in stone.

With the addition of color, or any other element, there are changes. The design appears
unbalanced because it is. The color yellow is not as ‘heavy’ as either the pink or the green, so
we enlarge the yellow center to give it more weight.
I may eliminate some of the green leaves to give more prominence to the blossom.
A complementary color scheme - choosing colors that are opposite one another on the color
wheel - is tricky. One color must have dominance to have peace and harmony. Otherwise they
fight for attention. We are not saying one color is more important than the other – only that
in this instance
green steps aside to put pink in the spotlight.
Together they, green from behind and yellow in front, tether pink to the ground.

Keep a copy of your original sketch and the original color layout.
Then play – move things around, make changes to individual elements:
What are the options?
• Enlarge and reduce
• Rotate
• Reflect – horizontally or vertically
• Skew, bend, stretch
• Eliminate
