Expt 5: Electrolytes

Some important concepts for understanding or

predicting electrolyte behavior:
• Molecular vs ionic compounds
• Solid vs solution state (immobile vs mobile ions)
• Strong/weak/non electrolytes and “unclassified”
• Salts, acids and bases (strong and weak)
• Solubility

Include every substance that was tested.

Note the state(s) of matter.

Expt 5: Electrolytes

Using subscripts and superscripts to write chemical formulas and equations

In WORD:
For subscripts in formulas, highlight the number then press ctrl(+). Or press the x2 button in the font menu.

For superscripts in formulas (charges), highlight the number then press ctrl/shift(+).
Or press the x2 button in the font menu.

Arrows:
Type “-->” (dash dash greater than) and Word will automatically turn it into a single arrow: 
Or look for an arrow in the symbols menu.
The equilibrium arrow is not available in the symbols menu. You can copy/paste it from somewhere else,
or you can type “21cc”, then press alt-x and the symbol will appear: ⇌
