curriculum 101

INSTRUCTIONS:
For songs one, two, three, four, five, and six

STEP 1. Play the song saying the note names and playing the notes.
(don’t worry about counting yet)

STEP 2. Play the song, and only count the open circled notes.
(half notes, whole notes & dotted half notes)

STEP 3. Begin trying to play the song at a consistent tempo.


(this may take some time)

**GOAL: Play the song with no stops or mistakes at the tempo shown.

REMEMBER:
1. Your Right Hand will play only the notes in the Treble Clef.

2. Your Left Hand will play only the notes in the Bass Clef.
3. Keep wrists up and fingers curled.

4. Each finger should be on it’s own note.

BEFORE YOU PLAY:

1. Look at the Time Signature - the top number tells us how many beats we
have in each measure.

2. Look at the 1st note of the song (in each clef) and the number above or
below it, to know where your hands should start on the piano.

3. Once you’ve found that note, put the proper finger on it and spread the rest
of your fingers out to where each finger is on it’s own note.
