Secondary and High School Education

Secondary and high school education consists of four years, a total of eight years. Secondary
school education can provide daily or boarding education, it is a situation that varies
according to each secondary school. The last four system is high school. High schools vary
according to the abilities of the students, for example, they are divided into many groups such
as social sciences high school, health high school, fine arts high school, Anatolian high
schools. High school education is provided free of charge. Free family support is provided to
students with insufficient financial means.

In terms of admission from middle school to high school, students take the exam held
throughout Turkey in the last year of secondary school, and as a result of the score they get,
they start to make their high school choices, including the bottom and top points. After the
preferences are announced, the student enrolls in the school he / she won. The duration of
secondary school is four years and is the final stage of compulsory education. The term of
high school is four years, starting at the age of fourteen and ending at the age of seventeen.
Schools start around September and end around June. The school is five days a week, lesson
duration is at most forty minutes, and breaks are at most ten minutes.

It is made as a center for all education programs and curriculum in Turkey. Course materials
and textbooks are provided by the state. Apart from school lessons, courses can be created at
the request of students and school clubs can be established as social activities. These clubs
can be theater, sports, travel and knowledge competitions. In the lessons, every teacher is
obliged to act based on the curriculum, besides, if the teacher wishes, he / she can lecture by
using technological devices such as computer, presentation and projection. The ceiling point
is one hundred points as measurement evaluation. Students take exams, do performance and
project assignments, each student who gets fifty points is considered to have passed that
course. Secondary school graduates are awarded with a diploma by the Ministry of National
Education, the diploma includes graduation points.
High school education starts at the age of fourteen and ends at the age of eighteen, the passing
grade is fifty, students who cannot successfully complete high school have to transfer to open
high school. However, this provision is not applicable to vocational training centers students.
Special education vocational training center and special education job application center is
made of the records of individuals who have not received the special education needs.
