Each member body interested in a subject for which a technical committee has been established has the fight to be represented on that committes, International organizations, govern mental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. ISO collaborates closely with the International Electrotechnical Commission {IEC on all matters of electrotechnical standardization, Draft International Standards adopted by the technical committees are circulated to ‘he member bodies for voting Publication as an International Standard requires approval by at least 26 % of the member bodies casting a vote Intemational Standard ISO 7005-1 was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 5, Ferrous metal pipes and metalic fittings, Sub-Committee SC 10, Metallic fanges and their joints This fist edition of ISO 7005-1, together with [SO 7006-2 and ISO 70053, cancels and replaces ISO 20B4 : 1974, ISO 2229 : 1973 and ISO 2441 : 1975, of which they con- stitute @ technieal revision 'S0 7005 consists of the following parts, under the general tile Metalic flanges: = Part 1 Steet fanges — Part 2: Cast iron flanges — Part 3° Copper alloy and composite flanges ‘Annexes A and B form an integral part of this part of ISO 7005. Recognizing the increasing difficulties arising from such a situation, representatives of ISO/TC 5, Ferrous metal pipes and metallic ftings, ISO/TC 67, Materials and equioment for petroleum end natural gas industries, and 1SO/TC 153, Valves, established principles for the preparation of an International Stan- dard for a single sores of flanges. “This part of ISO 7005 is based on the American and European steel flenge systems combined with some changes to the dimensions specified in the two systems. PN 20, N50, PN 110, PN 150, PN 260 and PIY 420 steel flanges are designed to be inter ‘changeable with flanges to American standards ANSI/ASME B16 5 and MSS SP44; ‘they are not identical but are deemed to comply with dimensions specified in ANSI/ASME 816 5 and MSS SP44 es appropriate ‘This part of ISO 7005 takes into account unpublished work of the European Committee for Standardization CEN/TC 74, Flanges, up to 1972 and the amendments that would hhave been necessary to [SO 2229 arising from the revision of ANSI ASME 16.5 up to 1988 and MSS SP44 : 1985, plus amendments due to the changes in pressure desig- ‘nation. ln the American system, flanges are designated by a Class rating, but these ratings have now been cenverted to nominal pressure (PN) designations. The ‘equivalent PN designations are as follows: Class 150: PN. 20, Class 300: PN 50 Glass 600: PN 110, Gless_900: PN 150 Class 1500: PN 260, Glass 2500: PN 420 ‘This par of ISO 7008 dove not specify materials or pressure/temperature ratings of flanges, but guidance is given in annexes D and E on selected materials and press: ure/temporature ratings of flanges (see note 10 to tables 8, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14, page 48) using the materials isted Annex 0 lists German {DIN} steels on which the European flange system is based and American (ASTM) steels on which the American flonge system is based, together with international (ISO) steels given in published and draft International Standards. Users of this part of ISO 7005 may wish to use steels ‘specified in national standards in proference to those given in annex D. Annex E gives the pressure/ temperature ratings for certain flanges made using the materials given in annex D (See E1 and tables E.1 to E.4 for restrictions on the epplicablity of pressure/ temperature ratings to flanges ) Ultimately it isthe intention that only ISO materials and pressure/temperature ratings Of flanges made using ISO materials will be specified in this part of ISO 7006; this wil bbe achiaved in a revision and when work on standardizing the ISO materials and their levated temperature proportos has been completed. Since then a number of ISO standards have been published, or are in preparation, which specify steels suitable for the manufacture of flanges However, the complete suite of ISO standards has yet to be published, and therefore the materials specified in this annox are given for guidance only and users are entitled to salect ‘ther steels from national standards in preference, as deemed necessary. Moreover, if specifying steals not given in this part of ISO 7008, users of this part of 1S 700S have the responsi bility to ensure that the steels are suitable for the PN desig nations given. Ina future edition of this part of 180 7008, steels from ISO standards only will be specified Guidance on pressure/temperatura ratings for certain flanges ‘made from the materials given in this annex is given in annex E. D.2_ Range of materials Except for pipeline flanges, flanges specified in this pert of 180 7008 may be manufactured from materials selected from tables D.1 and D.2 NOTE ~ S00 also 11 When PN 20, PN 50, PN 110 and PN 160 flanges are specified for pipeline applications, materials may be selected from table D3. Tables E.1 to E.4 ~ Prassure/tomperature ratings for PN 2.5, PN 6, PN 10, PIV 16, PN 25 and PIN 40 for the material groups given in table D.7 and valid only for flanges of types 05, 11, 12, 12 and 21 in nominal sizes up to and including ON 600. For all flanges of types 01, 02, 03 and 04 and for types 05, 11 12, 13 and 21 having nominal sizes greater than DN 600, pressure/ temperature ratings applied are the responsibilty of the user For austenitic stainless steels, pressure/ temperature ratings are based on a reference stress of 205 N/mm? for the 0,2 % proof stress and a reference stress of 225 N/mm? for the 1 % proof stress, the rating being given in tables E.3 and E 4 respectively. Two tables of pressure/temperature ratings for austenitic stainless steels are given because some codes of practice for ‘he design of flanged equipment use the 0,2 % proof stress value and others use the 1 % proof swvess value, Tables E'5 to £.21 ~ Pressure/temperature ratings for PN 20, PN 50, PIN 110, PN 180, PNY 260 and PNY 420 for the material groups given in table 0.2. The ratings are in accordance with the standard ratings for flanged and butt weld end fittings specified in ANSI/ASME B16 5. Table E22 — Pressure/temperature ratings for PN 20, P50, PN 110 and PN 160 for the material groups given in table D.3 For use in pipeline applications in the size range ON 300 and larger for types 05 and 11 only NOTE ~ There isnot yet in existence a comman internationally ac cepted procedure ro evaluate pressure/ temperature ratings for fenges Before iniroducing tables E11 E 22 ino national standards It should be checked whether they comply with the relevant naanal codes and feajltions £2 Rating of flanged joints If two flanges in a flanged joint do not have the same pressure/temperatura rating, the rating of the joint at any Temperature should not exceed the lower of the two flange ratings at that temperature. temperature shown for a conesponding pressure rating is con: ‘Sierod tobe that of the contained id.
