ABOUT PROJECT
MAKING
SEQUENCE OF
KEY

First of all , a sketch containing

the dimensions of the brass key and
outlet is prepared so that designing
process shall be easy with good
accuracy
a) Figure showing dimensions
TOOLPATHS :-
The path through space that the
tip of a cutting tool follows on its way to
producing the desire geometry of the workpiece

PROCESSES :-
Basically there are three process
followed.
1. FACING
2. DRILL/COUNTERBORE
3. CONTOUR

b) figure showing toolpaths and processes

CNC SIMULATION
BENEFITS OF SELECTION OF BRASS KEY

Earlier this year , research published in The New England Journal Of

Medicine evaluated how long the covid -19 virus could survive on surfaces like
cardboard, plastic or copper. It concluded that “no virus SARS-CoV-2 was
measured after 4 hours” on copper. Essentially , the virus didn’t survive for too long
on copper surfaces, which can break down a pathogen’s microbial load.
Handkey weighs roughly 70g Barring a few scratches gradual fading of colour
, the product will easily last one-two years even if used on a daily basis .”The idea
was to make the product in such a way that there were very few moving
components,to keep the manufacturing cost low.
ANTIMICROBIAL PROPERTIES OF COPPER

Copper and its alloys (brasses, bronzes,

cupronickel, copper-nickel-zinc and others) are natural antimicrobial materials.
Ancient civilizations exploited the antimicrobial properties of copper long before the
concept of microbes became understood in the nineteenth century. In addition to
several copper medicinal preparations , it was also observed centuries ago that
water contained in copper vessels or transported in copper conveyance systems
was of better quality (i.e., no or little visible slime or biofouling formation) than water
contained or transported in other materials.
CHEMICAL IMPORTANCE :-

Brasses which were frequently used for doorknobs and

push plates in decades past , also demonstrate bactericidal efficacies, but within a
somewhat longer time frame than pure copper.
All nine brasses tested were almost completely bactericidal (more than 99.9% kill
rate) at 20 degree centigrade within 60-270 minutes. Many brasses were almost
completely bactericidal at 4 degree centigrade within 180-360 minutes.
