Juan purchased grocery from B store worth P5,000 and issued postdated check 15 days after the

purchase. When the due date came, Juan knew that his bank account balance is just only P100. The
store on due date deposited the check and bounced for insufficiency of fund. The store demanded for
the replacement of the bounced check for good check. Failure to pay the purchased goods and replacing
the bouncing check, the store filed a case of estafa (violation of bouncing check law) to Juan. Juan
reasoned out that he could not be charged of estafa because, the check he issued was just a guarantee
of the purchased goods. Is Juan correct?
