         London has named the world’s best city for students for the 2nd consecutive


year, beating Tokyo and Melbourne that came 2nd and 3rd, respectively, on a new worldwide ranking.

         Tarava police station in the Subarnapur district of Odisha has been adjudged as one of the 10 best police
stations in India in the annual ranking for the year 2018.

         Serena Williams topped the List Of Highest-Paid Female Athletes 2019 published by Forbes.

         Manipur has topped the rankings in Breastfeeding and Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices in the
country.

         Karnataka tops the State Rooftop Solar Attractiveness Index which was launched during the Review Planning
and Monitoring (RPM) Meeting with States and State Power Utilities.

         Statue of Unity' in Gujarat and Mumbai's Soho House have been featured by the Time magazine in its second
annual list of the 2019 World's greatest places, in a compilation of 100 new and newly "noteworthy destinations.

Ø  According to a report of Economist Intelligence Unit, Mumbai has been ranked as the 45th safest city on the Safe
Cities Index (SCI) 2019, while Delhi stood at the 52nd position.
Ø  "Global Happiness Survey" by Ipsos, Indian has been ranked 9th on the happiness index among 28 global markets.
Ø  Economist Intelligence Unit’s Global Liveability Index for 2019, released with both Delhi and Mumbai sliding
down ranks. Vienna in Austria, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia make the top three cities.
Ø  India has surpassed the Netherlands to move into the list of top10 countries in terms of total gold reserves. India has
gold reserves totalling 618.2 tonnes. U.S. leads the country list with total gold reserves of 8,133.5 tonnes followed by
Germany with 3,366.8 tonnes.
Ø  World Economic Forum (WEF) report, India has jumped 6 places to claim 34th spot on world Travel & Tourism
Competitiveness Index 2019.
Ø  Indian Institute of Technology Ropar and Indian Institute of Science Bangalore were ranked number 1 among the
56 Indian institutes on the list of the best universities of the world in the World University Rankings 2020, topped
by the University of Oxford, published by the United Kingdom based Times Higher Education.
Ø  Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs Of Wasseypur has become the only Indian film to feature in “The Guardian” list
of 100 Best Films of the 21st century. The film has bagged the 59th position.
Ø  The International Migrant Stock 2019 was released by the Population Division of the UN Department of Economic
and Social Affairs (DESA). As per the report, India was the leading country of origin of international migrants in 2019
with a 17.5 million strong diaspora.
Ø  India was ranked 44th in the IMD World Digital Competitiveness Ranking 2019 produced by the IMD World
Competitiveness Center.

v  Kerala has topped the “School Education Quality Index” launched by NITI Aayog. Uttar Pradesh was ranked at the
bottom of the list. Chandigarh has topped the list of Union Territories.
v  The Reserve Bank of India has released the results of the September 2019 round of its Consumer Confidence Survey.
The survey was conducted in 13 major cities.
v  5 of the Richest Indians in Forbes India Rich List 2019 are: Mukesh Ambani with net worth of $51.4 billion; Gautam
Adani ($15.7 billion); Hinduja Brothers ($15.6 billion); Pallonji Mistry ($15 billion); Uday Kotak ($14.8 billion).
v  India ranked 82 spots among the 128 countries surveyed in the World Giving Index (WGI).
v  The IIT Bombay has topped all Indian Institutes in the 2nd edition of Quacquarelli Symonds India University
Rankings 2020 with an overall score of 88.5 followed by IISc Bangalore (ranked 2 with 84.7 score) & IIT Delhi
ranked 3rd with score of 82.2.
v  Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates overtook Jeff Bezos to become the world’s richest person.

·         According to the report released by the National Health Systems Resource
Centre (NHSRC), Jammu and Kashmir has registered the highest Inpatient Department, IPD care in the country.
·         Deutsche Bank has projected that Indian economy will reach $7 trillion by 2030 in its research report “Imagine
2030”.
·         India was ranked 84th in the Henley Passport Index 2020 released recently. Top 3 rankings are as follows: 1)
Japan; 2) Singapore; 3) Germany & South Korea.
·         World Economic Forum released the 1st edition of Global Social Mobility Report 2020 titled “The Global Social
Mobility Report 2020: Equality, Opportunity and a New Economic Imperative”. Social mobility can be understood as
the movement in personal circumstances either “upwards” or “downwards” of an individual in relation to those of
their parents. India was ranked at 76th position while Denmark topped the list.
·         Jharia in Jharkhand is the most polluted city in India according to a Greenpeace India
Report. Lunglei in Mizoram is the least polluted city in the country. As per the report, 6 of the top-10 polluted
cities are in Uttar Pradesh comprising of Noida, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Allahabad, Moradabad and Firozabad.
·         According to World Gold Council (WGC) report title “World Gold Outlook 2020”, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has
been ranked 6th in the largest buyer of sovereign gold abroad.
·         West Bengal emerged as the top State in vegetable production in 2018-19. West Bengal has overtaken Uttar
Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh continued to hold on to the pole position in fruits with 17.61 mt, followed by
Maharashtra (10.82 mt) and Uttar Pradesh (10.65 mt).

v  According to ‘India Justice Report 2019’, Maharashtra is the top state in delivering
justice to its citizens followed by Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Haryana in the
first-ever ranking of states on their capacity to deliver justice to citizens. In this
classification, Jharkhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh are at the bottom.
v  Bangladesh has topped the business bribery risk in South Asia according to the Trace
Bribery Matrix.
v  The International Institute of Management Development’s (IMD) World Talent
Ranking (WTR) report for the year 2019 was released. In the released report, India
was ranked at 59th position, a slip by 6 places on a global annual list of 63 countries.
The list was topped by Switzerland.
v  Microsoft’s India-born Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella has occupied the top spot
in Fortune’s Businessperson of the Year 2019 list.
v  The first-ever Prosperity & Inclusion City Seal and Awards (PICSA) Index, released in
the Basque Country capital of Bilbao in northern Spain.

·         India has emerged as the world’s 3rd-largest publisher of science and engineering articles as
per the statistics compiled by the US National Science Foundation (NSF). China is at
the top position, followed by the US.
·         The Comptroller and Auditor General’s report stated that the railways recorded an operating
ratio of 98.44% in 2017-18. The above operating ratio was the worst in the last 10 years. Operating
ratio is a measure of expenditure against the revenue.
·         Aberdeen Police station in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands ranks 1st in the list of the best-
performing police stations in the country while dealing with a property offence, a crime against
women and weaker sections.
·         According to a report by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the worldwide
arms sales rose by nearly 5% in 2018 and the market is dominated by the United States. US
firm Lockheed Martin is the world’s largest arms maker with the sales accounting for 11% of the
world market.
