ISLA VISTA, CALIF. - June 12, 2021 - With the 8th anniversary of K-pop phenomenon BTS
approaching on June 13th, Mojo New Asian Fusion Café announced a fan-gathering event in
honor of the occasion. Attendees will celebrate with free photo booth images, celebratory cup
sleeves with a purchase from the shop, and fan-made merchandise at small business vendor
booths. This event will be Mojo New Asian Fusion Café’s biggest event to date.

The café was founded by a UCSB alumni, Boxi Wang, who recognized the lack of restaurants in
the area that provided fast and casual Asian food. Wang said, “We trust BTS’ fans, so we are
expecting a good outcome. This is also a great opportunity for us to embrace our Asian culture,

1
which is what our business is all about”. This event would be a practice of an Asian fan culture
tradition known as “cup sleeve events” that originated in South Korea in which fans collaborate
with cafés, boba shops, and even bakeries to use the business as a venue for a gathering to
celebrate milestones of their favorite celebrities.

Mojo New Asian Fusion Café’s goal is to emphasize the importance of culture and aim to bring
fast casual Asian cuisine to its community. Since the shop’s customers mainly consist of students
of the University of California, Santa Barbara, which has an Asian demographic of around 20%,
it is essential for these students to be able to feel culturally included, even through food.

The event will be held a day prior to the actual anniversary date for 5 hours starting at 2:00 pm
until 7:00 pm. Special deals like a buy 2 drinks and get 1 food item free will be available for
purchase. Everyone is welcome to attend, but due to an expected high volume of attendees, a line
will begin to form at 1:30 pm.
