Thousands of parents around the world lose parental rights due to neglection of

responsibilities towards their children. An immense number of children, as well as

in Moldova, suffer from physical and mental abuse, especially within socially
vulnerable families. As a measure, the government of a particular country executes
laws to protect children rights. In extreme cases, they are separated from their
abusive parents to ensure that they are protected in the future. Though, is this
the right solution?
Firstly, every parent must accept and perform his basic obligations, such as
providing children with food, shelter, health care and education. Also, parents
must be deprived of any violent behaviour towards their children. In addition,
during the years of 2016-2017, almost 13.000 cases of child abuse were registered
in moldovan families. If those minimum requirements are ignored, the state has full
permission to intervene. Poor families get financial support to satisfy basic needs
of their children. Furthemore, if a parent is still ignoring his obligations, even
after being supported, the state might terminate his parental rights and find a new
home for the children. Clearly, such kind of an act is beneficial for a child, as
he gets full aid and protection from the government.
On the other hand, forced separation can negatively influence children mental
health. Although, the state does take in consideration a child's choice to live in
a orphanage or have as a guardian his closest relative, such serious changes can be
too much to bear for a young mind. The need of parental love and care is vital to a
child.
All in all, the state's involvement in separating children from their incompetent
parents is surely a controversial topic. However, every kid must be given a choice
to decide whether it wants to live with his parents or not, though it should be
under a precise government control.
