A Primer on
Chorale Competition

Who may join the contest?

Choral groups from Metro Manila and nearby provinces may join the competition. Each
group must be composed of ​12 to 18 members of ​mixed gender. ​Please take note that all
male or all female chorale groups are proscribed from participating the contest. Every group
member must be ​at least​​ ​15 years old & above.

What are the prizes at stake?

Prizes are as follows:

Grand Prize – P10,000, a trophy and a certificate
First Runner Up – P5,000, a trophy and a certificate
Second Runner Up – P3,000 a trophy and a certificate

All participating groups will receive certificates of participation.

How much is the fee involved?

A minimal fee of P500 will be collected from every chorale group. Said fee will be used in
subsidizing the costs associated with the event.

What songs will each group prepare?

Every group must prepare ​two (2) ​acapella songs. ​The first song must be a festival
theme song, while the second one is any song that the chorale chooses. Both songs must be
sang in ​no more than 13 minutes.

What are the criteria for judging?

The criteria for judging are as follows:

Performance 50%
Musicianship 30%
Stage Presence 20%

May we dispute the results of the competition?

Please take note that the decisions of the judges are final. However, aggrieved
participants are not precluded from seeking legal remedies which they may deem appropriate.
