DRIED LEAVES PENCIL

Introduction:

Pencils are one of the common needs of students nowadays. But growing issue about the tree is stick to this
material. In making a pencil we need trees because trees are the only one who can support in making a pencil. In
this idea, we came up to make a pencil out of dried leaves of a tree.

As we all know dried leaves are not very useful as it usually go to trash, but for this study we use this material to
make a pencil. The study is very essential and has the best solution to the growing issue of lack of trees in the
Philippines. In this study, no more trees is needed to be cut down for pencil production instead, using this
material dried leaves will also implement cleanliness and neatness in the community.

Purpose :

To minimize the use of wood on pencil production and help save Mother Earth.

Materials Needed:

Dried Leaves heat pan


Lead + 1 cup cornstarch
Popsicle Stick – for molding + 3 cups water
Paper as casing + oil
+ salt

Procedure:

 Prepare all the necessary materials to make the product.


 Put all the gathered dried leaves in a mortar and pestle. Start grinding the leaves until it became
powderized.
 When the leaves become powder, mix with an oil and paste to make the powder liquid form.
 When done making the mixture, prepare a tray for the drying process. (24 hours or more is needed to
dried up the mixture).
 Shape it in rectangular shape and place the lead and roll it.
 Prepare a pencil casing for the dried mixture.
 Insert the dried misture into the pencil casing made.
 Design and Polish your own pencil out of dried leaves.

Conclusion:

Dried leaves as pencil is effective, plus, its components are cheaper and very eco-friendly. This would help the
community to lessen the use of wood and help mother earth.
