VIJAY KEDIA
Vijay Kedia was born in a stockbroking family. He has been interested
in the stock market since childhood. He started engaging himself in
trading with his grandfather when he was 14. After his father’s death
at the age of 19, he stepped into the stock market and made
significant gains initially but after 1 year he started facing losses due
to rushed decisions without doing prior research, once he faced a
loss of Rs. 70,000 in Hindustan Motors within 2-3 days. In 1989 he
shifted his focus from trading to investing and implemented
strategies like trial and error and observation. His 1st investment was
all his savings of Rs. 35000 in Punjab Tractors who then grew 4-5
times and then sold its shares and from that money acquired ACC
LTD.’s shares. At that time the price of ACC LTD. was only Rs. 300.
Gradually, the ACC stock increased with great tendency, reached to
Rs. 3000. His main qualities while investing are courage to purchase
stocks at sufficient cost, patience to wait for the right stocks, and
knowledge to know and search for the best stocks. His recent
addition to his portfolio is 1 million stocks of Sudarshan chemicals
holding a price of Rs. 67 crores. His only advice to upcoming
investors is to analyze the company management as every investor
should find out how the company is run and how the company has
run in a lazy time. According to him, the management will consider
the best management for the growth of the company when the
performance of the company can be handled and lead to good
conditions.
