A Personal Annotation in Reply 1988

Executive Summary

Reply 1988 is set in Ssangmun-dong, a small Seoul neighborhood, and follows the lives of a
group of five friends. At the age of their young adult wherein they are ages 18 and 19 the
majority of the series focused on their challenges and remarkable occasions. The film begins in
1988, proceeds through 1989, and then leaps to 1994 and 1995. It also includes scenes from
2016, in which Deok Sun is interviewed with her husband, the identity of whom is revealed later
in the movie.

Deok Sun, the center child, shares a half-storm cellar with her two siblings and guardians.
While Jung Hwan and his family live above them, not at all like Deok Sun's debt-ridden family,
who got rich in short-term. Choi Taek, from the other hand, lives with his single man father and
doesn't confront monetary troubles. His most prominent test was winning baduk sessions, and
he got referred to all through Asia as a virtuoso player. Sun Woo and Dong Ryong, alongside
their families, are the primary three's different neighbors. All through meal times, the five
ordinarily congregate in Taek's chamber and offer food to everyone, as their eommas had
mentioned. Their mothers stay at home to raise their children while their fathers work to support
their families.

Regardless of how much difficulty they find themselves mixed up with, these youth buddies
have one other's backs. Their folks have gotten close as neighbors and depend on each other.
The various people travel through different phases of life, from troublesome school a very long
time through development, which is actually, mentally, and monetarily debilitating.
Also Reply 1988 continues in its predecessors’ strides by making personal connections
between different families. Their lives all interweave together to make a little world that we will
investigate. This show splits its concentration between the youngsters and their folks. Five of
our youngsters are a similar age and are dear companions. We additionally have a couple of
more established kin around a similar age.

Analysis

Among all the characters I have known, Deok Sun personality catches my attention. The
center offspring of her family, is the solitary young lady in their gathering of five neighborhood
companions. Despite the fact that not scholastically skilled, Duk-seon has a brilliant and caring
character. She really focuses profoundly on her companions and cohorts, however feels lost
without a "fantasy" to seek after. Deok Sun's concern of not having any dream is additionally
one of my top picks in Deok Sun's bend. She recognized how terrible her school scholar’s
position, and she genuinely realized that she just had a little desire to pass the school, yet the
one that made her more down, dislike others, she didn't have dream, she didn't have a clue how
she need to help her future. I think numerous individuals are comparative like Deok Sun.

Additionally, in my Point of View Deok Sun is our ideal friend and sibling who is one call
away for everyone, I meant who you can always count on whenever you need a friend or just
someone to talk to. Even though she is the middle child and knowing that being middle child is
somehow unfair because you did not get the same attention to your older and younger siblings.
But as for Deok Sun’s, she did not mind it, still she treasures, love and give importance to her
family which she considers as her wealth based from my understanding. And aside from me I
know everyone will like her jolly personality.

Talking about the impactful episode, for me it’s episode 3 entitled “Not guilty if you’re
rich, guilty if you’re poor.” Wherein Deok sun's folks’ squabble about how close their monetary
circumstance is and how hopeless they have been living in a half-basement; in the meantime,
Deok sun's dad gets called to the school since his child has been discovered offering things to
different understudies; he discovers to his disgrace that his child is prodded pitilessly by his
schoolmates about living in a half-basement. Deok sun's mom by one way or another figures
out how to get some cash for her school retreat. Her dad likewise gives her two moves of film
for the family camera. It impacted me because knowing that they are at their lowest financial
point still they are willing to do everything just to provide their needs, especially their mother and
father who will do what they can for their children.

Reply 1988 is reminiscent of a comeback to the 1980s. It is unlike any other Kdrama
because the majority of the plot revolves around modern and historical events. Even the houses
and items in their household screamed 1990s. Their TV, radio, and phones are all reliable till the
end of the agreement, from the way they dressed to the style of their hair. Their camera holy
messengers and cinematography astounded me, especially considering Korea is the greatest in
this area. The production is a great depiction of association, family, and first loves. It shows the
ups, downs, and hard and fast 180s that Koreans in Seoul have experienced in the last piece of
the '80s and mid '90s. The five profound established partners may be the power lead
characters, yet their moms, fathers, and family are each like a hero through their own effort,
also. The significance of this dramatization is to show us the existence families had in 1988. The
way they live, the fellowships, the affection, the area, the music, the games, and Reply 1988
effectively imagined everything.

That was the reason individuals who was searching for issues won't ever discover the
show intriguing. Reply 1988 is intended to be delighted in and to put a grin all over, to make you
giggle on awful days and to make you experience cheerful tears! When you track down the
significance of this dramatization, you won't ever have the option to unlove Reply 1988.

As far as I might be concerned, the most important aspect of Reply 1988 in Political and
Economic Geography and International Organization is their way of life and convictions, as one
of the International Organization’ objectives are to cultivate social turn of events. The
arrangement shows that if two individuals' family names are something similar, they can't wed
since it is unlawful in their country and cannot be favorable. Likewise, as their economy failed,
numerous workers were constrained to deliberately stop, which is the reason Mr. Sung Dong Il
lost his employment following 26 years at the bank. At last, Sung Bora went to a dissent and
stood in opposition to political debasement, guaranteeing that youths are the country's
expectation.

After all, I have realized that no matter what happened, you only got your family. As days
go by, we will surely be realized that having your own family is the greatest blessing we should
give importance and treasures the most.

Conclusion

This drama made me think about friendship, family, childhood, and even the old days
when everyone in the neighborhood still greeted each other whenever they passed by and
always tried their hardest to help each other, which I find so rare nowadays. It's a truly uplifting
series that will never tire you if you strive to enjoy and ponder on each story. The drama was
enjoyable to see as a whole. Because the show's primary focus was on relationships rather than
a larger story, I found it to be a little draggy at times, maybe due to the longer episodes. After all
Its worth’s my time because of the life lessons I’ve got that somehow, I can apply.
