Installation and Authorization
The standalone application will be installed into the Applications/Sugar Bytes folder.
The authorisation happens during installation process.
When the application is not authorized, a message will be displayed and
no sound will be produced. For the demo version no authorization is needed.
File Menu
The File menu contains all features and settings of the standalone application.

Audio Settings
The audio settings dialog contains all settings necessary to select and setup an audio driver.
The settings are different between OS X and WINDOWS.
On OS X only the audio in- and output needs to be selected.
On Windows the settings are a bit more complex.
Type
Select one of the following audio drivers:
- WASAPI (Shared Mode)
- WASAPI (Exclusive Mode), for instruments only
- ASIO, settings can be made on the Control Panel
- Direct Sound (Windows XP)
Audio Input
Here you can choose the audio input of the selected audio driver.
Automatically the first two inputs are selected.
If the application has no audio input this part is greyed out.
Audio Output
Here you can choose the audio output of the selected audio driver.
Automatically the first two outputs are selected.
Latency
The latency time can be set for WASAPI Exclusive Mode and DirectSound.
For ASIO this can be done on the Control Panel.
When the audio signal becomes interrupted the latency time is too small.

Midi Settings
The midi settings dialog contains all settings necessary to select and setup midi devices.
Active
Here you can activate or deactivate the selected midi input device.
Sync Delay
Timing delays can be adjusted here.
Filter
Midi CC´s and Program changes can be filtered out to avoid sound changes.

Channel
Active channel to receive midi data.
Keyboard-Range
The keyboard can be reduced to a selected range here.
Midi Output
If the application generates midi data, it will be sent out to the selected driver.

Audio Player / Recorder
Depending on the product, an audio player is available on the input and an audio recorder is
available on the output. The audio recorder is useful to record ideas or to editing audio files.
The audio recorder is not available in the demo version.
During playing and/or recording the dialog needs to be open.
Player
Use the Load File button to load an audio file into the player.
Supported formats are WAV, MP3 (Windows + OS X min 10.7.x), MPEG-4 (OS X min 10.7.x)
and AIFF. Step through the folder of the last loaded sample via the arrows.
It is recommended to adjust the tempo of the application to the tempo of the loaded file.
This can be done by using the Try detecting tempo from file option or on the Tempo dialog.
To play the audio file looped use the Loop File option.
To start playing on any incoming midi event use the Start Playing on Midi Event option.
Recorder
The audio recorder offers the possibility to record ideas quickly. Due to the flexible
connection to the audio player also loops or jam sessions can be created.
The Start / Stop option contains several modes to start and stop the audio recorder.
Manually: Recording starts and stops with the Start Recording button.
Start Recording On Midi Event: Recording starts with incoming midi event.
Start Recording On Play: Recording starts when audio player starts.
Start/Stop on Play/Stop: Recording starts and stops with the audio player.

Open Audio Player / Recorder on Startup
Opens the Audio Player / Recorder dialog automatically after start up the application.
Panic
Opens the Audio Player / Recorder dialog automatically after start up the application.
Help Menu
Help
Opens the application manual.
With the computer keyboard, midi notes can be created. One octave is mapped.
The keys D-L represent the white keys and R-O represents the black keys.
With the C-key you can set the keyboard one octave down,
with the V-key you can set the keyboard one octave up.
