Difference between TwinOxide® and chlorine & chlorine-type disinfectants There is a significant chemical difference

between TwinOxide® and chlorine and chlorine-type disinfectants (i.e. chlorine, sodium hypochlorite or any other product
in the same category) These products generate “free chlorine”, also known as hypochlorous acid. This is the biocidal
component that kills bacteria. Very efficient dosage and water disinfection. In general, 1 litre of TwinOxide® 0.03%
solution, with a dosage rate between 0.03 – 2.0 ppm will produce up to 60,000 litres of potable water. Deviations of
these dosage rates are likely. CT Values for 99% kill in 1 minute. TwinOxide® removes biofilm and sanitizes the drinking
water pipe lines with its continuous use.
Free chlorine is released by chlorine and chlorine-type disinfectants when added to water. TwinOxide® does NOT
contain free chlorine and works on the active molecule of chlorine dioxide. Although chlorine can be found in the name,
the product is not a chlorine-type disinfectant. TwinOxide® does not release free chlorine to provide disinfection. When
TwinOxide® 0.03% solution is applied, the chlorine dioxide molecule kills the full spectrum of bacteria, algae, fungi,
spores, protozoan, corona virus, yeast, methanogens, other viruses, etc.

TwinOxide® does not generate by-products and does not need other chemicals to do the job! Chlorine and chlorine-
type disinfectants generate Disinfection By-Products (DBP). DBP’s include carcinogenic compounds that are biologically
harmful in minute quantities, e.g. Tri Halo Methanes, Haloacetic Acids and Mutagen X. The precursors to generate
TwinOxide® ClO2 solution are fully compliant with the European Standard DIN EN 12671 which designates the stringent
rules for purity and quality of chemicals used for disinfection.

Advantages:

Microbiological and chemical advantages

 Powerful inorganic oxidizing agent and free radical with residual disinfection capacity;
 99.9x% effective against all water-borne microorganisms (spore forming bacteria, viruses, protozoa,
fungi and yeast);
 Very short contact time (2-10 minutes);
 Long residual disinfection capacity (up to 72 hours);
 High efficiency in the removal of iron and manganese compounds;
 Destroys algae-related taste and odor compounds;
 Higher yield (up to 260% more oxidation output compared to chlorine);
 Effectively removes prophylaxis on biofilms;
 Steady bactericidal efficacy within a broad pH bandwidth (pH 4 to pH 11);
 No build-up of resistance in microorganisms.

Economic advantages
 More disinfection, less chemistry;
 No investment in a conventional ClO2 generator;
 No ClO2 generator maintenance and re-certification;
 Less security measures;
 Lower risk and liability insurance policy;
 Less training, certification and re-certification of qualified personnel;
 Environmental, health & safety factors;
 Lower hazardous material transportation costs;
 No additional chemicals (e.g. pH-level stabilizers) required;
 High material tolerance;
 No corrosion

Health and environmental advantages

 Does not react to water to form hypochlorous acid (no ‘free chlorine’);
 Unlike chlorine, TwinOxide® does not react with ammonia, ammonium or most organic compounds;
 Chlorite and chlorate building heavily suppressed;
 Eco-friendly, no undesirable residues;
 Single-product water cleaner and conditioner;
 Effective against airborne pathogens when ‘misted’;
 TwinOxide® does not chlorinate organic materials;
 Decreases THM's, HAA's, MX and other organic compounds with toxic or carcinogenic properties.

Delivery mechanism
 2 years guaranteed shelf life
 High solubility in water, can be applied in a very short time;
 Up to 72-hour biocidal life when added to water;
 Produces pure ClO2;
 High yield.

Effective Surface Disinfection

Chlorine Dioxide--The active ingredient in TwinOxide® has been proven effective against legionella, norovirus,
staphylococcus, cryptosporidium, rotavirus, streptococcus, influenza, human coronaviruses and similar pathogens.

TwinOxide® Is NOT Bleach

Though it has a similar odor, the chemistry is different. 10X more active in equal concentrations against
microorganisms. TwinOxide® will not remove mildew stains like bleach but is much safer and more effective at killing
mold and mold spores.

TwinOxide® is a disinfectant/deodorizer approved for hard non-porous surfaces (including food-contact surfaces) in
residences, hotels, offices, hospitals, schools, factories, nurseries, vehicles, sick rooms, laundry rooms, eating
establishments, medical, veterinary clinics or any other location that may be contaminated. TwinOxide® may also be
used on porous surfaces. (Test for color fastness) The active ingredient in TwinOxide® is effective on all known
microbiological organisms, controlling bacteria, viruses, algae, fungi, mold, and yeast when properly applied. This
includes legionella, norovirus, staphylococcus, cryptosporidium, rotavirus, streptococcus, influenza, coronaviruses and
similar pathogens.

TwinOxide® RTU is a tool to slow the spread of microbial contamination sources such as molds, spores, bacteria, fungi
and viruses by providing a state-of-the-art reinvention of a proven chemistry---Chlorine Dioxide. The general chemistry
of this product has been in use since 1941. It is very environmentally friendly and does not create the undesired
carcinogenic compounds associated with traditional chlorine and bleach.
Throughout the world Chlorine Dioxide chemistry is used in hospitals, paper mills, municipal water facilities, fruit and
vegetable processes and in the food production and sanitation process. TwinOxide® destroys microbes at a
concentration level far below a level considered to be detrimental to human health.
Application Methods:
The goal is to lightly wet the surface of whatever is to be treated. In an ideal situation you would allow the product to
dry. In most cases it's best to allow the product to dry on the treated surfaces. In the case of surfaces such as doorknobs
and other frequently touched items, be certain to wet thoroughly. Or in the case of aerosol applications, foggers can
be used to efficiently deliver airborne material if necessary.
