‘The candidate is examined on:
the Imperial Ballet Graded syllabi up to and including Grade 6 and intermediate, for either gender of the
candidate's choice;
the movement vocabulary and theory of the technique up to and including Grade 6 and Intermediate for both
genders;
the technical and artistic quality of own performance.
The candidate is asked both to demonstrate and discuss, from a teaching perspective based on practical experience,
‘the following:
analysis of movement vocabulary up to and including Grade 6 and intermediate;
the development of technique up to and including Grade 6 and intermediate;
enchainements, suitable for both genders, at the students’ various stages of physical and cog
assured knowledge of the structure of the body and its movement limitations;
secure understanding of correct stance, common faults and their correction.

The candidate Is required to demonstrate:
‘musicality in own performance;
‘the ability to count any exercise, demonstrating the correct tempo, accents and quality required;
how to instruct the pianist confidently;
confident use of varied rhythms and accents to enhance the dance style in arrangement.
‘The candidate presents a pre-choreographed dance of their own composition at Intermediate level for either gender
— candidate's choice. The dance should show suitability for the required level, structure, musicality and spatial
awareness and be approximately 1.52 minutes in length. Clearly marked sheet music should be brought to the
examination, or recorded piano music may be used.
Dress:
