Interview with Mrs Ezzie Domínguez

Hi Mrs. Domínguez, I want to ask you some questions

ED: Hi Adriana, hi everybody from “unusual threat”

AC: Where are you from? I’m from Guatemala and so does my husband.

AC: How many years are you in this country and why don’t you get your
nacionality?

ED: Well, I came to US on 1999 because of the economic and political situation in
my country, because of the Mitch hurricane. We received Bill Clinton to make an
alliance with the government and we knew everything was coming worst.
Itś too hard to get the nationality at legal way because the US has a lot of
obstructions, they don want to have us leaglly. In the other hand, they need
cheap labor and people who do what they don’t want to do. Because of that, we
are nannys, clean labors, janitors, etc.

AC: What do you think about the family you care behavior, don’t you tell
them you have to support yourself with your job?

ED: I think, they can’t think in other people. Life is around themselves and
everyone has to do something to solve it situation. But, I knew that and I choose
to live here in these conditions, so I don’t complain about it. They doesn’t have to
worry about me, my life is up to me.
AC: Now, what do you gonna do to eat, to feed your childs, to support
your husband?

ED: By now, we are having a lunch at the foundation, it helps a lot, and we are
looking for some tasks to do day by day.
So I hope this situation ends soon.

AC: Don’t you think about come back your country?

ED: Sometimes I think about my family in Guatemala, I would like to see them.
But if I left Us, I won’t to came never becuse I’m ilegal. I hope some day this
situation changes and we can live in the country we prefer with no problems or
discrimination. We think we are lucky people, because we could live ans work
here. We know in Europe, people die in the sea trying to get that continent. Entire
families capsize and dies. It’ s so unfair, I mean nobody is ilegal in the world.

AC: Well, Ezzie I’m so pleased about this oportunitie to talk with you, I
hope after this pandemia, we reflect about people, things, nature, earth
and be councious what we have to do to save the life in the planet. Bye
