LETTER OPTION 1
44 Baron Street

Cappadocia

Greater Georgetown

Hon. Minister Bishop Juan Edghill

Ministry of Public Works

Wight's Lane

Kingston

Georgetown

Dear Hon. Minister Edghill,

I am a resident of Cappadocia and I am writing on behalf of the residents of this community to

complain about the potholes and broken pavements in our neighbourhood.

We are particularly concerned about the safety of pedestrians. Not only is there a primary school
and several small businesses in the community but many resident senior citizens, and a child or
an elderly person could trip on the uneven pavements, fall and hurt themselves.

In addition, there are many potholes, some of which are very deep and wide along many streets
in this community. They can cause damage to cars and they pose a great danger to cyclists. If a
cyclist hits one, the cyclist may fall off and might be sent flying, or forced to swerve into
incoming traffic or into pedestrians on the sidewalks. In addition, some of the potholes in some
of the streets are so deep and wide that in times of heavy rainfall, the potholes are filled making
the streets impassable for pedestrians and has even resulted in several vehicles being stuck in the
potholes due to the soft mud at the bottom of the pothole preventing the vehicle from moving.

I, along with every resident and worker in this community, would be grateful if you can send
someone from your ministry to look at the problems firsthand. It is of utmost importance that
these roads and pavements be repaired, and in some cases, rebuilt as soon as possible to prevent
serious accidents from occurring as well as removing the inconvenience of inaccessibility of
flooded roads during rainy seasons.

I look forward to hearing from you

Yours respectfully

F DaSilva
