today we will tell you a beautiful legend called the sleeping beauty.
This legend is from the city of Tingo Maria Huánuco
It all started when Princess Nunash, daughter of a former curaca of the region, had been the love object of a young warrior from a neighboring town, named Cuynac. He came to her after crossing the Peruvian jungle and in the name of his love he built a temple, which he named Cuynash. They lived together happily. However, the jealousy of his father, who saw his empire diminished by the young man, decided that the time that he had tolerated it was enough and he resorted to the services of a sorceress to become a giant snake, named Amaru. Later, the curaca Cuynac, seeing that Amaru was approaching with his hosts, decided to ask the magicians for help to turn Nunash into a butterfly and for her to flee the place to save her life. She flew into the jungle in search of help from other curacas enemies of her father and a few days later she returned with a great army that defeated the invaders. Nunash was looking for her beloved by land and sea, but she did not find him. He had been turned to stone to wait for her and could not regain his former appearance. Tired of looking for him, she went to sleep at the foot of a large rock and in her dreams, she heard Cuynac's voice telling her: "Do not look for me anymore. It was my will to turn to stone to wait for you. My wish was granted, but now I am only a stone. If you really still love me, just as you have always loved me, my wish is that you stay here by my side all my life on this hill and that only in the light of the moon our people can see you sleep next to me. Finally, the princess accepted and never woke up again .
