Spanish Natural Language Learning

Language Parent Session (2 one hour sessions weekly)

1.) Greetings
2.) Total Physical Response (15 minutes)
3.) Magazines (10 minutes)
4.) Children’s stories (35 minutes)

Total Physical Response:

Have language Parent give a list of commands (50-100 commands per session,
500 total)
Magazines:
20% of time should be spent on magazines
Language Parent will describe the pictures in the magazine and will ask simple
yes or no questions.
The student then asks the language parent some basic questions:
What is this/that?
What is he/she doing?
Why?
Start out with clothing and colors
Children’s Stories:
Retell the story in the target language (no need to translate word for word, use
basic language)
Same procedure as with the magazines: Language parents asks yes/no
questions followed by student questions.
For both the Magazines and the children’s stories, the last 15% of the allotted
time should use the I+1 technique.
Record sessions on phone and listen back to the later (4 extra hours per week)

Reading:
Read 20 pages minimum per day in target language

Comprehensible Input Videos:

Watch one hour daily of comprehensible input videos on youtube
Or, watch children’s cartoons or other similar basic material

tSpanish Media:
Watch at least one movie in spanish per week, but more if possible
Listen to music in spanish and translate and memorize the lyrics in your free time
