(Morning)Applications of Analytical Chemistry
in other disciplines of science
Analytical Chemistry plays an
important role in nearly all aspects of
chemistry. Analytical data are
required in a wide range of
disciplines and situations that include
not only chemistry but other fields of
science. There are many fields of
sciences that depend on Analytical
Chemistry :-
e In Medicine
Analytical Chemistry is
the basis for clinical laboratory tests
which help the physicians to
diagnose the disease and chart
progress in recovery.e In Industry
Analytical chemistry
provides the means of testing the
raw material for assuring the quality
of finished products whose chemical
composition is critical (e.g. Drugs).
e In Forensic analysis
Techniques and methods
of analytical chemistry are used in
analysis related to criminology ,DNA
finger-printing, fingerprint detection
and blood analysis.
e Environmental Chemistry
The study of chemical
and biochemical phenomena that
occur in the environment is possible
by using techniques of analytical
chemistry. Environmental quality isoften evaluated by testing for
suspected contaminants using the
techniques of analytical chemistry.
e Bio-analytical chemistry
Techniques of analytical
chemistry are used in the
examination off biological materials
such as blood, urine, hair, saliva and
sweat to detect the presence of
specific drugs.
e Pharmaceutical analysis
In pharmaceutical
Chemistry, pharmaceutical industry
and in the detection ,identification
and measurement of drugs and other
foreign compounds.® Quality control
Techniques of analytical
chemistry are used in industrial
quality control which is required by
most companies to control product
quality.
¢ Food and Agriculture
The nutritional value of
food is determined by chemical
analysis of major components like
proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins
etc.
