Germination is the process of seeds developing into new plants.

First,
environmental conditions must trigger the seed to grow. Usually, this is
determined by how deep the seed is planted, water availability, and
temperature.

The process of seed germination includes the following five changes or

steps.

Such five changes or steps occurring during seed germination are:

(1) Imbibition
(2) Respiration
(3) Effect of Light on Seed Germination
(4) Mobilization of Reserves during Seed Germination and Role of Growth
Regulators
(5) Development of Embryo Axis into Seedling.

Plant reproduction is the process by which plants generate new

individuals, or offspring. Reproduction is either sexual or asexual. Sexual
reproduction is the formation of offspring by the fusion of gametes .
Asexual reproduction is the formation of offspring without the fusion of
gametes.

Growth is the process in people, animals or plants of growing physically,

mentally or emotionally
Imbibition:
The first step in the seed germination is imbibition, that is the absorption of
water by the dry seed. Imbibition results in swelling of the seed, the
swelling takes place with a great force. It ruptures the seed coats and
enables the radicle to come out in the form of primary root.
Respiration:
Primary roots begin to develop and the hypocotyl forms a hook that
straightens out, pulling the cotyledons above ground.
Effect of Light on Seed Germination

The emergent seedling begin to straighten out, taking the cotyledons with
it.
Mobilization of Reserves during Seed Germination and Role of Growth
Regulators

The primary leaves begin unfolding and the stem elongates.

Development of Embryo Axis into Seedling

The true leaves completely emerge and the cotyledons eventually fall off.
Definition of terms:

1.Seed: A seed is a ripened ovule, which consists of an embryo and stored

food supply
surrounded by protected seed coverings.
2.Embryo: A miniature plant within a seed, produces by the union of male
and female gamete.
3.Germinate: To being to grow.
4.Germination: The process in which seed embryo starts growing, which
leads to the
development of seedling.
5.Dicots: Plants having two cotyledons in their seeds.
