This pandemic has great impact in the life of each of us especially in education. It
has brought lot of changes in the educational system here in the Philippines. The
teaching-learning became so different. Teachers and students are no longer allowed to
go to school and conduct face to face classes. Teachers can no longer assist their
students in doing their activities.
Basing from the report of ma’am Nica Faith Bernice M. Subia, I can therefore say
that there are prevailing constraints of the inclusive education during this pandemic.
One of these constraints is the difficulty in development of learning resources.
Educators are having difficulty in developing appropriate learning resources during this
pandemic. Due to the inability to conduct face to face classes, teachers are not given
enough chance to assess their learners which makes the development of learning
resource difficult because we are not sure if the learning resources that we are
developing are appropriate to the needs of our learners. Another one is in the part of
learning delivery. The most common learning delivery being used during this pandemic
are the modular and online. With these types of learning delivery, there is no assurance
that the learners are really learning something. With the modular type, there is no
assurance that the learners are the one answering their modules which makes our
assessments unreliable. In the online delivery, not all of our learners have a stable
internet connection which makes the learning delivery very difficult.
These are just few of the prevailing constraints brought by the Covid-19
pandemic. The best way I think can solve these constraints is the nationwide
vaccination. If everyone of us is already vaccinated, we are already invulnerable of the
virus and we can already conduct face to face classes and the teaching-learning
process will be back to normal again which is way better and accessible than the one
that we have today during this pandemic.

Assessment is a critical aspect of the teaching and learning process.

It enables teachers to measure the effectiveness of teaching with student
performance to specific learning objectives. Through years, lot of issues
have been raised in regards to assessment and evaluation of learner’s
performance.
Based from the report of Sir Renz Dave G. Calzada, the best way to handle the
common issues on assessment and evaluation with learners and parents is by making a
checklist and individual learner’s presentation portfolio. Through the checklist, I can
easily identify and record the score of each student in every activity that I will give them.
By comparing their scores through the use of checklist, I can easily identify the progress
of each of the learners. The portfolio containing the activity sheets of the learner can
also serve as a concrete evidence of the learner’s participation. With the scores in they
got in the activity sheets inserted in their portfolio, teachers can easily do an
assessment and evaluation about the performance of the leaner in class.
Parent-teacher conference is a good way to address the assessment issues.
Especially now that we are not allowed to have face to face classes, teachers’
coordination with parents is much needed. The parent will serve as their teacher at
home and parents will consult the teacher about the performance of their children. With
these, the parents themselves will be able to assess their children’s performance and
ability.
