INTERPRETATION & PETROGENESIS
‘This thin section R5831A is of metamorphic rock subjected to high pressure and temperature than
‘schist with mostly first and second order birefringence minerals. These minerals are biotite,
plagioclase and quartz which constitutes >10% of the rock’s thin section studied.
All ofthese minerals have undergone metasomatism where biotite shows alteration on its mineral
crystals, Other minerals have no introduction of new chemical components into the existing |
in aqueous solutions hence they're not altered.
tis formed metamorphosis of granite or a sedimentary rock. It displays distinct foli
‘alternating layers composed different minerals. It does not preferentially break:
planes unlike schist and slate because less than 50% of the minerals are foP-T-t Path
