Alcatel-Lucent Professional Services’ IP Desktop Softphone is a windows application
installed on an agent’s PC replacing the Alcatel-Lucent Advanced eReflexes phone. This
multimedia, fully-integrated telephony solution replaces IP telephone terminals
completely. The IP Desktop Softphone 4068 is a desktop application that turns on a
computer emulating a 4068 IP Touch Phone.

n VoIP Protocol provides voice communications on a PC
n Available anywhere the user is able to connect to the client IP network
n User interface can be personalized
n Keys follow the 4068 eReflexes telephone set layout.
n Identical display as the 4068 eReflexes telephones
n Up to 15 different ring tones
n Multi-language: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese.
n Telephony is supported on any CTI environment (ex: Alcatel-Lucent OmniGenesys GCN, GCN
Web, Desktop Application, TSAPI or specific CTI Toolbar).
n G.711, G.723.1, and G.729 codecs are supported.
n QoS (802 1P/Q, TOS/Diffserv) compatibility

Out-of-the-Box Solutions).

OPERATION
The user initiates an outgoing call through the VoIP connection on his or her PC by directly
entering a telephone number in the number field or
by using a dialing feature such as Redial, Dial by
Name, etc. The user controls the call by clicking on
the key layout on the screen.

Incoming calls ring through the computer


loudspeakers and automatically switch the voice
connection to a USB headset. Incoming calls are
also controlled by clicking on the screen key
layout.

The Alcatel-Lucent IP Desktop Softphone


application can be used anywhere it is possible to
connect to the Customer IP network. Note: The
extra function box is not supported.

Besides the 4068 full skin,
a mini skin is available.
IP Desktop Softphone 4068 mini
shows only the screen of the 4068.
The PC keyboard is to be used for dialing.

IP Desktop Softphone is available in several languages: English, French, German, Italian,


Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese.

Alcatel-Lucent IP Desktop Softphone

n Signaling (setup and teardown) of the RTP sessions are received by the Alcatel-Lucent
OmniPCX and relayed via the RTP/RTCP protocol.
n TOS mechanisms are supported.
n QOS tickets can be generated in combination with this application.
n No impact on the software for the middleware environment
n No impact on the software for the Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX platform

REQUIREMENTS OR CONDITIONS

n USB headset: Ring tone is sent by the computer loudspeakers and voice communications are
performed with a USB headset.
n Multimedia PC (minimum Pentium III 800 MHz with Windows 2000 or XP, 512 Mg RAM, 25 Mg
free disk space, full duplex sound card, and an available USB port. When Windows XP is
used, the Service Pack 1 and a USB 2.0 port are required.
n 802 1P/Q is available only in Windows XP.

The official Alcatel-Lucent IP Desktop Softphone version is available for ordering through ACTIS
from the release R 8.0 of Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise.

OPTIONS

n Two skins are available for the Alcatel-Lucent IP Desktop Softphone 4068.
Customized skins can also be created to meet specific client needs on demand.
n It is also possible to adapt the application on demand to meet specific needs.
n “Try and Buy” facility (download from the BPWS/Services section/Out-of-the-Box
Solutions).

A Maintenance Contract on Specific Developments (MCSD) to extend the warranty for the
development from the basic 3-month warranty period to a one-year renewable agreement can
be provided by Alcatel- Lucent Professional Services.
