TERM PROJECTS
Learn Ob jectives:
1. Induction motors supplied from a constant-frequency source admirably fulll the require-
ments of substantially constant-speed drives. Many motor applications, however, require
several speeds or even a continuously adjustable range of speeds. From the earliest days
of ac power systems, engineers have been interested in development of adjustable-speed
ac motors. In this term project, develop a Simulink model that performs scalar speed
control between 0 to 100 Hz (V /f control) for induction motors.
Use the 'Asynchronous Machine SI Units' block located in the Simulink->Simscape-
>SimPowerSystems->Specialized Technology ->Fundamental Blocks->Machines library.
Select the rotor type as squirrel cage from the properties section of the block, use the
sum of the last two digits of your student number as the motor model number. (A
student with the last two digits of the student number 79 will use the machine model 7
+ 9 = 16)
You are expected to present your term project on Wednesday, June 9, in the electrical
machines lesson. In addition, you have to send your project report via LMS until the
specied day and time.
