Things to do 1+ week before your trip:

❑ Buy travel size toiletries Available at most drug and grocery stories.
❑ Contact credit card companies & Can usually be done online or by calling the number on the
banks back of your card. Don't forget to include your debit card
too!
❑ Download foreign language Recommend getting free smartphone apps that can help
applications you overcome language barriers.
❑ Get cash Recommend getting cash in small denominations for tips.
However, get foreign currency at an ATM upon arrival.
❑ Get immunizations Check with your doctor and/or the CDC page (for US
travelers) to determine whether you need any special
immunizations
❑ Get spare passport photos Some countries require them when visiting, especially if
you are getting a visa upon arrival or crossing a land
border.
❑ Notify neighbors In case anything comes up while traveling. Also, in case any
packages get delivered while you're gone.
❑ Load travel itinerary Helps to share your itinerary with others. Highly
recommend sites like Google Trips, Kayak, and TripIt.
❑ Load travel reward account Recommend copying your reward accounts (airline, hotel,
numbers online etc.) into an online location (via Evernote, DropBox, Google
Docs) for easy access.
❑ Order travel insurance Recommend getting basic coverage in case of any medical
emergencies or accidents.
❑ Photocopy passport Recommend keeping your passport in your hotel safe, and
carrying a copy of your passport at all times.
❑ Register for US State Department Allows you to receive notifications on potential threats or
STEP program (or equivalent) risks in your country/countries of travel
