As your student teaching experience comes to a close, it is time to reflect
on your experience at IS 34. You have had the opportunity to become a part if the class for which you were assigned. At the beginning you observed more than you taught, but as the semester continued your teaching increased. You began teaching every day and your skills as a teacher improved. You taught in a time like no other. You learned what it meant to teach in the time of a pandemic. You taught small cohort in person classes and became involved in total remote learning. Your schools remained open and then closed when cases of Covid presented itself. Looking back on this challenging time I have a few thoughts to share with you. 1. You have shown great professionalism in your assignment this semester, and your comfort level with your class/classes has increased whether it be in person or remote. You should be proud of the work you have done. 2. You have been given a wonderful opportunity to begin your professional career in a school that promotes excellence in teaching, and what you will continue to learn from all those you come in contact with will remain with you as you pursue your career after graduation. 3. Congratulations on a job well done. I have been happy working with you during this time of great challenge and opportunity as I was able to see how you increased your skills and grew into the kind of teacher that the St. John’s School of Education is proud to graduate. I wish you all good things in your future endeavors. Know that I will always be available to you if you need me. May you continue to be blessed as you continue to follow your dream of becoming a certified teacher.
