What it takes to be a teacher?

A Remarkable Journey
by: Arah P. Porras

As Covid’19 pandemic deem to be an unforeseen health crisis the Philippines has

faced. This resulted to the several community quarantine that seriously affected our
educational system. At this time the flexibility of learning is challenged. It is a challenge
to maintain hope, stability of educating learners in the locality. It is a prerogative to
facilitate the development of learners considering their health and safety.

However, Lower Daan Elementary School is committed to deliver educational services

amidst the pandemic. Embraces the new normal of learning. Where teachers accepted
the task to deliver and retrieve the modules to and from each pupils house weekly,
serve as their initiative to help the parents from walking a kilometre just to get and return
the modules. With their own expense ,they have to do all of this to ensure that the
first hand instruction will be given to the learners and parents as well. And for everyone
safety they follow and observe the health protocols mandated by the Department of
Health.

It is a remarkable journrey for the teachers. The heat of the sun and the cold rain did not
hold them back to deliver and retrieve the learning modules. Even so the rocky road and
kilometers distance did not block their eagerness to deliver the modules on the learners
respective home on time.

Truly, this pandemic opens many doors of changes. From the health protocols to follow
to the new trend and flexibility of education, it is in the heart of the teachers to give
inspiration through their sacrifices.

What it takes to be a teacher?

It takes to be a burning torch that gives light to their learners. Even in the tough times
teachers’ heart are burning with compassion towards the effectivity of the learning.
