OR RRME EAH CHET, @ USE ‘The Conversion Table has been compiled to offer convenience and efficiency in measur- ing the straightness or flatness of surfaces such as of surface plates, machine tool beds, right angle gauges, etc. by the use of the Autocollimator with a plane mirror. The measuring procedure in sequence will be tabulated and described with an example, as below: 6 Reading-out of inclination angle in the Autocollimator 2 : Interval of the plane mirror stand placed successively one after another h : Deviated height to be measured Fig. 1 4 {4.7 af YR: a VYisld L—2 (4 =100am) Fig, 2 & rs i it Surface to Autocollimator Al be measured eed Fig. 3 Table 1 Measuring points Process AB eb Eg OF [Read out angles/by the Autocolimator 1 [EBitieence from the fst read-out 0 +6" 0 +8 fang) 2 |Deviatons/foreach 100mmdistance | 0 0: +2.9-1.9 0 +3.9 3 | Accumulated values 0 0 +2.9 +1.0 +1.0 +4.9 4 | Compensated values 2.0 -2.9 —3.9 5 _| Height diffeencesfrom the fiducil |g Pree surface he 109 | +0.94, 0 200 Pi Fle, 6 —<—T 29, Description Li 10. Set successive measuring points with an interval of 100m (2= 100mm) for example. Such points will be called A, B,C, . . F in the order from the Autocollimator. First, for the two positions of the mirror across the distance A — B, make auto- collimations with fine adjustment to determine the zero direction of the Autocolli- mator, in which each time the reflected crosshair image is coincided with the center of the viewfield in the Autocollimator. Then, by successive autocollimations, find a position where the surface to be mea- sured is convex, thus the rear end of the mirror stand rises, causing the reflected cross-hair image to move vertically in the Autocollimator. Assume this moving direction as plus (+). (To make sure of this direction, raise slightly the rear end of the mirror stand at the same convex position.) Moving the mirror across B— C, C ~D,. .. E~ Fsuccessively, read out the vertical movement of the crosshair image, respectively. Write down in the process 1 these read out values, i. e. the differences @ from the zero position with plus (+) or minus (—) sign according to the moving direction of the crosshair image from the zero position. Then, find the amounts of deviation corresponding to the angular values, noted in the process 1, referring to the Conversion Table, for 2= 100mm. Write down those deviations in the process 2. In this case, taking the position determined by A — B as fiducial, if the point C is at ‘a higher level than the point B, the level difference will be calculated as below, for example: Rsin 6 = 100 xsin (+6") = +2.9u Find out in the same way the rise of the point D above C, E above D, and so on. To convert the deviations for the process 2 into those from the fiducial line con- necting A and B, carry out accumulations/and write down the results in the process 3. Such results will be shown in the figure as a straightness line with respect to the fiducial line AB. In this example, at the final position a deviation of 4.9u will remain. (Fig. 4) ‘Then, taking the straight line A ~ F obtained by connecting the values at two ends of the surface as a fiducial line, make compensation as shown in the process 4. The error of straightness will be obtained as the amount as shown in the process 5. In this example, the straightness will be then 0.9 — (2.9) = 3.8u. (Fig. 5) When making measurement by moving the mirror nearer and nearer from the far- thest point, raise the front end of the mirror stand to assume the moving direction of the crosshair image as plus (+). For the straightness in the lateral direction, follow the same procedure as for the vertical, as described above. Plus (+) and minus (—) are to be determined by the direction in which the mirror is laterally swung. h (0.001mm) NG 100mm 150mm 200mm 250m 300mm 400mm 500mm o 0.5 0.7 1.0 1.2 1.5 9 24 1.0 15 1.9 24 2.9 9 4.8 15 2.2 2.9 3.6 44 8 73 1.9 2.9 3.9 4.8 5.8 8 9.7 2a 3.6 48 61 13 7 wl 2.9 44 5.8 73 8.7 6 14.5 34 5.1 68 85 10.2 6 17.0 3.9 5.8 78 97 11.6 5 19.4 44 6.5 8.7 10.9 13.1 5 21.8 4.8 1.3 9.7 12.1 14.5 4 5.3 8.0 10.7 13.3 16.0 w3 5.8 8.7 11.6 14.5 11.5 23.3 6.3 9.5 12.6 15.8 18.9 25.2 6.8 10.2 13.6 17.0 20.4 27.1 73 10.9 14.5 18.2 21.8 29.1 7.8 11.6 16.5 19.4 23.3 31.0 8.2 12.4 16.5 20.6 24.7 33.0 8.7 13.1 175 28 26.2 34.9 9.2 13.8 18.4 23.0 21.6 36.8 9.7 14.5 19.4 24.2 29.1 38.8 10.2 15.3 20.4 35.5 WS 0.7 10.7 16.0 21.3 26.7 32.0 42.7 1.2 16.7 22.3 27.9 33.5 44.6 11.6 17.5 23.3 29.1 34.9 46.5 12.1 18.2 24.2 30.3 36.4 12.6 18.9 25.2 31.5 37.8 1.1 19.6 26.2 32.7 39.3 13.6 20.4 20.1 33.9 40.7 M1 2d 28.1 35.1 42.2 eens 21.8 29.1 36.4 43.6 15.0 2.5 30.1 37-6 5.1 18.5 23.3, 31.0 38.8 46.5 16.0 24.0 32.0 40.0 48.0 16.5 24.7 33.0 a2 49.5 17.0 25.5 33.9 a4 50.9 12.5 26.2 34.9 8.6 52.4 17.9 26.9 35.9 44.8 53.8 18.4 27.6 36.8 46.1 55.3 18.9 28.4 37.8 47.3 56.7 19.4 29.1 38.8 48.5 58.2 19.9 29.8 39.8 2.7 59.6 20.4 30.5 40.7 50.9 1.1 20.8 31.3 41.7 52.1 62.5 21.3 32.0 42.7 53.3 64.0 21.8 32.7 43.6 54.5 65.4 22.3 33.5 44.6 55.8 66.9 F 22.8 34.2 45.6 57.0 68.4 Bi 23.3 34.9 46.5 58.2 69.8 1 23.8 35.6 41.5 59.4 71.3 -0 24.2 36.4 48.5 60.6 12.7 0 24.7 37.1 49.5 8 74.2 a 25.2 37.8 50.4 63.0 15.6 8 25.7 38.5 51.4 64.2 7.1 8 26.2 39.3 52.4 65.4 73.5 7 26.7 40.0 53.3 66.7 80.0 7 1 40.7 54.3 67.9 81.4 6 21.6 41.5 55.3 69.1 82.9 5 28.1 42.2 56.2 70.3 84.4 5 28.6 42.9 87.2 18 85.8 4 29.1 43.6 58.2 2.7 87.3 4 h (0.001mm) a\g 100mm 150na 200mm 250mm 300mm 400m 500mm aig 29.6 444 59.1 RB. 447.9 2” 30.1 45.1 60.1 75. 150.3 a” 30.5 45.8 61.1 76. 182.7 a" 31.0 46.5 62.1 7. 155.1 5° 31.5 41.3 63.0 2. 157.6 e 32.0 43.0 64.0 80. 160.0 rv 32.5 48.7 65.0 81 162.4 8 33.0 49.5 65.9 82 164.8 a 33.5 50.2 66.9 83. 167.3 10” 33.9 50.9 67.9 84. 169.7 11” 34.4 31.6 68.8 6.
