Mangrove Canopy Loss Directions:

Go to https://www.globalforestwatch.org/ and select ‘Dashboard’ instead of Map and select

the country you wish to analyse.

Under ‘FOREST CHANGE’ scroll to the second graph titled ‘TREE COVER LOSS IN FIJI’

Click on the ‘gear icon’ on the graph. Under ‘FOREST TYPE’ select ‘Mangrove forests’. Select
the ten year range you wish to analyse as well as the canopy Density.
Beside the ‘gear icon’ click on the download icon and save the file.

A zip file will be downloaded, once unzipped, open the file titled
‘treecover_loss_in_mangrove_forests__ha.csv’ File using Microsoft excel.

The second column ‘umd_tree_cover_loss__ha’ specifically represents mangrove tree cover

loss per year as opposed to total country tree cover loss.

This procedure will need to be repeated for 30% and 75% thresholds
N.B To calculate Biomass loss you will need to use the original guide to obtain
‘avg_biomass_per_ha_Mg’ values.
