Vehicle Safety Points

 Vehicle safety is an important part of everyday life.


 You must be qualified and authorized by your company to operate
any vehicle at your jobsite.
 You must obey all rules and regulations at the job site as they may
differ from site to site
 Remember your seat belt must be worn at all times you are
operating the vehicle.
 Never sit on the tail gate or sides of the truck bed (check the job
site if it is even allowed to have passengers siting in the truck bed)
 All company vehicles shall be inspected prior to use before every
shift.
 Your safety inspection of the vehicle should include
o Brakes, brake fluid, oil, gas, headlights, brake lights, turn
signals, emergency lights, license plate light, windshield
wipers, all mirrors, horn, seat belt, tires, emergency
equipment (if provided).
 You must stop at all railroad crossings
 You must yield to pedestrians
 Pay attention to any restricted access areas
 When at the job site if you leave your vehicle unattended you must
o Turn off the vehicle
o Leave the keys in the ignition

o And set the parking brake


 You should perform a “circle of safety” prior to moving the
vehicle where you circle the vehicle to ensure there are no
obstructions
 You will want to use a spotter inside of units and heavy congested
areas.
 While driving adhere to posted speed limits and never use a cell or
radio while driving.
 When transporting employees inside the vehicle, there should be
an adequate amount of seats.
