Course Objectives
The course focuses on the key concepts, important tools and best practices related to role of
management science in the decision-making process. This course does not aim at developing the
students as Management Scientists. Rather, upon completion of this course, the student should be able
to develop the ability to recognize, formulate, and analyze decisions in light of Management Science
as operational and functional managers.

Examination
2 Exams including 1 midterm and the final exam will cover the material discussed in classes and
included in the assigned readings, notes and assignments. Students are advised to take the exams as
announced. Make-up exams will not be given except for valid and documented medical or family
emergencies. I have the full discretion in making decision in this regard. Where late assignments are
accepted, I will apply a late penalty. If you do not have a valid reason for missing an exam, you will
receive a grade of zero on that exam.

Assignment Policy
I will provide you a group term paper shortly. Each group will comprise of at most 4 members. You
are encouraged to submit your assignments as hard copies. However, evaluation of the assignment
will be in two parts – the report and oral presentation.

Quizzes
Several quizzes will be taken average of which will be considered. All quizzes will be unannounced
and no makeup for quizzes will be allowed regardless of whatever reason there may be.

Class Attendance and Performance
The marks allotted for this purpose will be given on the basis of both attendance and performance. A
student failing to be present for 3 consecutive classes will not be allowed to take part in the next
immediate quiz/examination. A student failing to be present for 8 classes will not be allowed to take
part in mid-term and final examination. Class performance will on one hand include participation of
students in reading and discussing cases in the classroom. However, the evaluation of case discussion
will not be based on any right or wrong answer but on sincerity in reading and discussion. Further,
students are expected to pay serious attention to class lectures and discussion. Any student who will
be noticed as neglecting class proceedings may be penalized entire marks on class attendance and
participation. Finally, students will not be allowed to enter classes after 15 minutes of the beginning
of class.

Academic Honesty
Dishonesty on examinations and quizzes or on other written assignments, illegal possession of an
examination or quiz, obtaining information during an exam from the examination papers of another
student, or otherwise from another student, assisting others to cheat, alteration of grade records are all
considered instances of cheating. Violation of any of these requirements will be dealt with in the
strictest manner possible.
